What the ★ Karambit | Gamma Doppler Emerald looks like in Factory New

Green lacquer covers the full face of the curved blade and the finger ring. Near the point white and pale blue thin the green; at the heel it is dense dark emerald. The gray handle with its finger grooves is bare, and the jimping on the spine reads clearly. Valve calls the karambit a copy of a tiger's claw, held in reverse grip with a finger through the ring. The ring stays in sight, and its color registers first.

The wear scale runs from 0.00 to 0.07, short enough that listings differ only within rounding. Green retreats first along the inner curve of the edge and on the ring, though in Factory New it never reaches bare metal.

Where the ★ Karambit | Gamma Doppler Emerald came from

Valve drew the finish itself; no Steam Workshop submission stands behind it. Gamma Doppler entered the game on June 15, 2016 with the Gamma Exposure update and the first Gamma Case. Valve's catalog lists the finish as number 568. A Valve note of May 24, 2024 says the in-game look of Doppler and Gamma Doppler was corrected.

Phase and pattern

Gamma Doppler rolls a phase, written into the item name: Phase 1, Phase 2, Phase 3, Phase 4 and Emerald. Players call the rare Doppler and Gamma Doppler variants gems. Emerald belongs to Gamma Doppler alone, while Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl appear only on Doppler.

Inside Emerald, copies still differ by pattern index, which shifts the balance of green, cyan and black on the blade. Phase 3 copies heavy on cyan even earned a name of their own, "BTA Cyan". Sources disagree on whether a good pattern inside Emerald commands a premium, so do not budget for one.
