Description

Minimal Wear (MW) on the ★ M9 Bayonet | Doppler Sapphire is the second and last wear of this finish. Doppler's float does not rise above 0.08, so there is no Field-Tested for it. Covert rank, with the ★ mark. Sapphire is a rare phase, a gem, and it costs several times more than the ordinary phases. The clean version of the same knife is Factory New (FN).

What the ★ M9 Bayonet | Doppler Sapphire looks like in Minimal Wear

The blade color is a dense blue, with light sky-blue patches by the spine and near the hole and dark blue swirls over the rest of the face. The guard and the ring are blue too, the saw teeth are painted through, and the handle is gray, unpainted. The edge of the ★ M9 Bayonet | Doppler Sapphire is light along its whole length.

The float stretch is 0.07 to 0.08, the narrower of the finish's two bands. In Minimal Wear small scuffs already sit on the edge and the saw teeth, and on the guard's lug the blue is in places rubbed down to light metal; in Factory New there is nothing of the kind. In this wear the knife sits in a short stretch of 0.07 to 0.08, so there is no point chasing the number.

Where the ★ M9 Bayonet | Doppler Sapphire came from

The finish was drawn by Valve itself. Doppler entered the game on January 8, 2015, with the "Full Spectrum" update, and in the post for it Valve also introduced the Chroma Case. The next two cases of the Chroma series hand out the same finish. In the Valve finish catalog it carries number 416.

Phase and pattern

Doppler is seven phases under one name. Phases 1 to 4 are ordinary, while Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl are rare, and collectively they are called gems. The phase matters more than the wear. This model's ordinary phases in Minimal Wear cost less than a third of Sapphire. Between the two wears of the gem itself in CS2 the difference is only about a quarter.

Among the M9 Bayonet gems, Sapphire is third by starting price: Black Pearl and Ruby are ahead. The artwork on the ★ M9 Bayonet | Doppler Sapphire reads as a solid blue fill with swirls. On ordinary phases the pattern index changes the shares of color on the blade. Fully blue copies of Phase 4 are called "Max Blue", and in a preview they are easy to take for Sapphire. The difference shows on the guard and the ring: on the gem they are blue too.

What to check before buying

For the ★ M9 Bayonet | Doppler Sapphire it makes sense to confirm the following:

  • the phase in the listing name: a Phase 4 with a blue blade costs many times less;

  • the state of the edge and the saw teeth in the screenshot: this is where wear shows first;

  • the applied name: the knife takes a name tag, but no stickers can be applied to it;

  • the StatTrak™ version: it has its own page and its own price.

What the ★ M9 Bayonet | Doppler Sapphire costs in Minimal Wear

Factory New costs about a quarter more. Among the model's Covert finishes, Sapphire is second from the top here: only the emerald Gamma Doppler is higher. Gamma Doppler in the first and second phases is two and a half times cheaper than Sapphire, and M9 Bayonet | Fade is three times cheaper.

Getting the ★ M9 Bayonet | Doppler Sapphire

The knife arrives as a rare ★ item from the Chroma Case and the next two cases of the series, and the game picks the phase, not the player. A craft gives the same random outcome: five Covert skins of one collection trade for one gold weapon. A gem in a particular wear is hunted among finished listings.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The ★ M9 Bayonet | Doppler Sapphire has a StatTrak™ version; no Souvenir release was ever made.

Who this wear suits

Minimal Wear on the ★ M9 Bayonet | Doppler Sapphire is worth buying when:

  • you want a blue gem, and the quarter-price gap to Factory New matters;

  • scuffs on the edge and the saw teeth do not bother you in play;

  • your CS2 set already has blue elements that the knife is picked to match.
