AK-47 | Phantom Disruptor (Field-Tested)

Field-Tested (FT) is how most players buy the AK-47 | Phantom Disruptor, and in this grade the float runs from 0.15 to 0.38. The rank is Classified. The rifle drops from the Prisma 2 Case, whose collection arrived on March 31, 2020.

What the AK-47 | Phantom Disruptor looks like in Field-Tested

A translucent creature of haze spreads over a matte black body: lilac and turquoise flares gather into a silhouette with no firm outline. The blur is deliberate, which makes this AK softer to look at than most loud finishes. The stock and handguard stay almost black.

Wear in this grade collects on the receiver edges and along the top of the magazine. Bare metal shows plainly against matte black, yet the silhouette survives it, since the figure sits in the middle of the side panel. Closer to 0.38 the smoky flares near the edges drain of color and turn gray.

What to check before buying

Three things settle the choice between listings:

• the float, because a matte base puts rubbed edges on display;

• how saturated the flares still are near the edges of the panel;

• the name tag and stickers already sitting on the listing.

There is no pattern roll to hunt: every copy carries the artwork the same way.

The band itself is worth working through. Between 0.15 and 0.38 the two ends do not look alike.

What the AK-47 | Phantom Disruptor costs in Field-Tested

The grades line up like this:

• Factory New asks about 6.6 times as much;

• Minimal Wear is dearer by about a third;

• Well-Worn carries a premium of a few percent;

• Battle-Scarred is cheaper by about a tenth.

The bottom of the ladder is flat enough that Well-Worn edges above Field-Tested. Band length explains it: the finish caps out at 0.65, which leaves Well-Worn a narrow 0.38 to 0.45 slice, and few copies land there. Dropping below this grade buys little: Well-Worn costs more, and Battle-Scarred saves only about a tenth.

Getting the AK-47 | Phantom Disruptor

The rifle comes out of the Prisma 2 Case and belongs to that collection.

A trade-up reaches it as well. Ten skins one rank down go in. Any of these work: P2000 | Acid Etched, Sawed-Off | Apocalypto, SCAR-20 | Enforcer, SG 553 | Darkwing or SSG 08 | Fever Dream. With all ten inputs taken from this set, it holds three Classified finishes, so the outcome is random and this AK comes up one time in three. The float of what returns depends on the copies fed in.

The skin also serves as fuel. Ten Classified skins from Prisma 2 return one Covert skin, and the set has two of those: Glock-18 | Bullet Queen and M4A1-S | Player Two. Players build that contract willingly, this finish being neither the cheapest way into the rank nor the dearest.

StatTrak and Souvenir

Stickers and craft on the AK-47 | Phantom Disruptor

The AK-47 | Phantom Disruptor has a StatTrak version. Souvenir copies of the finish turn up as well, though no Souvenir packages were ever made for it: packages only ever covered tournament map collections. Those copies are built with the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a normal skin from the inventory.

Matte black is a generous background: everything reads on it except black and dark blue. Bright stickers do especially well, as the finish is muted and never fights them. The stock and handguard are free for a craft in CS2, and the panel with the silhouette is best left bare. Holos sit better on a matte body than on a glossy one.

Who this wear suits

Field-Tested is the sensible buy here when:

• a muted dark AK is wanted for CS2 instead of a loud one;

• there is no reason to drop lower, the worn grades costing no less;

• a dark base is needed under bright stickers.

Rubbed edges do stand out more on matte black than on a busy finish. If that bothers you, sort toward 0.18.
