Description

Field-Tested (FT) on the AWP | Capillary is the grade where the red web across the dark receiver is still intact and the edges have only begun to lighten. In this wear the rifle covers 0.15 to 0.38. The rank is Mil-Spec, and the AWP comes out of the Prisma 2 Case; no other case has ever carried the finish.

What the AWP | Capillary looks like in Field-Tested

Receiver, handguard and stock are a dark gray close to black, and over them runs a net of thin red and pink lines. The lines branch the way capillaries do, knotting into dense bundles in places. The long barrel is left bare: pale gray metal with a fine grain, banded by red rings. The bipod is gray with red hinges, and the body carries no figures and no lettering.

Here the receiver edges and the red rings on the barrel are the first to go pale. The thin net tears on the raised parts before the flats, so toward 0.38 the drawing on the corners falls apart. On the flat sides the knots of lines stay readable across the entire band.

Where the AWP | Capillary came from

The finish is the work of an artist posting as m03h. The collection was released on March 31, 2020, and the finish carries the same date. Valve's catalog numbers it 943, and the update note of that day gave the Prisma 2 set a line of its own.

What to check before buying

Before taking an AWP | Capillary, listings are weighed on these points:

  • float: at 0.15 the net survives even on the corners, at 0.38 it is already ragged there;

  • the condition of the red rings on the barrel, which dull earlier than the net does;

  • stickers on the body of the AWP | Capillary and a rename, if one was applied.

One layout covers the whole run, so there is no special copy to hunt down. The band is long, which makes putting several lots side by side worth the trouble.

What the AWP | Capillary costs in Field-Tested

Across the grades the finish lines up like this:

  • Factory New asks roughly nine times as much;

  • Minimal Wear about half again;

  • Well-Worn around a seventh more;

  • Battle-Scarred sits level with Field-Tested.

That nine-fold figure comes straight from the scale: the finish opens at 0.05, so the top grade fits a narrow 0.05 to 0.07. Field-Tested, Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred are separated by cents, and two or three cheap lots decide the order among them.

Among Mil-Spec AWP finishes this one is second from the bottom in the grade, with only AWP | Arsenic Spill below it. AWP | Acheron and AWP | Black Nile come next. The top of the rank belongs to AWP | Snake Camo, and the gap to it runs into the hundreds.

Getting the AWP | Capillary

There is one drop source, the Prisma 2 Case.

A trade-up cannot produce it, since Mil-Spec is the bottom rank of this collection and nothing below it exists to feed in. The finish does work as an input: ten Mil-Spec skins from the set return one Restricted skin, SSG 08 | Fever Dream or SG 553 | Darkwing among them.

StatTrak and Souvenir

Stickers and craft on the AWP | Capillary

The AWP | Capillary has a StatTrak version. Souvenir copies of the finish turn up as well, though no Souvenir packages were ever made for it: packages only ever covered tournament map collections. Those copies are built with the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a normal skin from the inventory.

The dark base takes stickers readily, and on a near-black receiver both pale and bright ones read. Red ones merge into the net and get lost in it. The flattest room for a craft is the stock and the handguard below the lines. On rubbed corners part of a sticker comes away with the paint.

Who this wear suits

Field-Tested is the sensible pick on the AWP | Capillary when:

  • a loud AWP for CS2 is wanted without the premium for a clean float;

  • there is patience to page through lots and land one near 0.15;

  • the rifle is headed into matches rather than a CS2 showcase.

Anyone who needs the net whole on the corners should move up to Minimal Wear. Factory New stands apart here precisely because the scale is cut off from below.
