The AWP | Hyper Beast in Battle-Scarred (BS) is the most affordable way into this rifle. Its float band runs from 0.45 to 1.00, the whole upper half of the scale. It is a Covert skin and drops from the Falchion Case.
What the AWP | Hyper Beast looks like in Battle-Scarred
The barrel, scope, bipod and front of the receiver stay dark gray-steel metal. Toward the middle of the receiver lies a gray-black blotch with the outline of an animal's muzzle. The whole stock is painted in psychedelic colors: crimson and magenta streaks, green, turquoise and orange veins. The scope has a red ring.
Valve describes the finish as a beast in psychedelic colors. The color is gathered at the back of the rifle, and in Battle-Scarred the scuffs there get lost against the dense multicolor ground. They are easier to spot on the dark metal at the front, where the edges lighten and gray out.
Where the AWP | Hyper Beast came from
The data names frontaLOBE as the author, while the submission "AWP | Hyper Beast" was posted to the Steam Workshop on January 14, 2015 by a user called Rene. Its description says it is an illustration by the artist Brock Hofer and promises more skins in the same theme.
The AWP | Hyper Beast was released on May 26, 2015. In its note on the Falchion Case, Valve wrote about sixteen community finishes and a new knife model. In Valve's catalog the finish carries number 475.
What to check before buying
Before buying an AWP | Hyper Beast, check the following:
- float: the closer to 0.45, the fewer scuffs on the dark metal;
- stickers and a name tag the rifle got from a previous owner.
A lucky pattern cannot be hunted down here: there is always just one. From 0.45 to 1.00 the scuffs build up visibly. The band takes 55% of the finish's whole float scale.
What the AWP | Hyper Beast costs in Battle-Scarred
The other wears relative to this one:
- Factory New is dearer by roughly three and a half times;
- Minimal Wear costs one and a half times more;
- Field-Tested costs about 7% more;
- Well-Worn costs the same.
The three lower wears cost practically the same, and the surcharge falls at the top of the scale. Battle-Scarred is the smart pick when you need a price, not a look.
Among Covert AWP skins this one is third from the bottom: only the AWP | Chromatic Aberration and one more finish are cheaper. Above it stand the AWP | Neo-Noir, AWP | LongDog and AWP | Wildfire, from a tenth to a fifth dearer. The AWP | The Prince, AWP | Dragon Lore and AWP | Gungnir cost dozens and hundreds of times more.
Getting the AWP | Hyper Beast
The skin drops from the Falchion Case. The alternative to buying is a trade-up: ten skins one rank down can return an AWP | Hyper Beast when they are taken from the same set. Inputs include CZ75-Auto | Yellow Jacket, MP7 | Nemesis and SG 553 | Cyrex.
With two Covert skins in the collection, the odds of drawing this one are one in two. The set's other Covert skin is the AK-47 | Aquamarine Revenge.
StatTrak and Souvenir
The AWP | Hyper Beast comes in a StatTrak version. Souvenir packages for this finish were never released, because those were made only for the tournament map collections. A souvenir copy can still be put together by hand, though: the Souvenir-O-Matic attaches gold tournament stickers and a player autograph to an ordinary skin in your inventory.
Stickers and craft on the AWP | Hyper Beast
The multicolor stock swallows stickers: neither outlines nor logos read on it. The dark metal at the front leaves room for light, single-color ones. White, yellow and light blue hold best on the gray steel, while black ones vanish. Build the craft on this skin around light colors.
Who this wear suits
Battle-Scarred is worth buying for the AWP | Hyper Beast if:
- you want a Covert AWP for CS2 at a price from the lower end of the rank;
- scuffing is fine with you and the colorful stock still shows in the hands;
- you want a base for stickers on dark metal, and your CS2 collection has room for a worn skin.
Within the band the difference between 0.45 and 1.00 is easy to see: toward the upper limit gray edges run along the entire rifle.
