AWP | Phobos (Minimal Wear)

On the AWP | Phobos, Minimal Wear (MW) takes the float band from 0.07 to 0.15. It is Restricted, from The Gamma Collection. Among the ten Restricted AWPs in this wear, the Phobos has just one cheaper rival, the AWP | Pit Viper.

What the AWP | Phobos looks like in Minimal Wear

The rifle is dark, almost black, with a greenish tint to the metal. Yellow-and-black warning stripes run along the top of the receiver, and a yellow ring sits at the muzzle. Orange-yellow rings show in the cutouts of the stock, and a diamond-shaped hazard sign is drawn on the stock itself. Small green markings sit on the receiver. The barrel and scope stay dark, with no artwork.

In MW the dark base is still even, and the yellow elements contrast clearly against it. Wear is set at the drop and does not build up later. The 0.07 to 0.15 band is narrow, so the difference between listings is minimal.

Where the AWP | Phobos came from

The Gamma Collection opened in the game in June 2016, and the AWP | Phobos was there from day one. It drops from the Gamma Case. The finish's float ceiling is 0.40, so Battle-Scarred does not exist for it, and four of the five wears are available.

What to check before buying

Ahead of a purchase, the AWP | Phobos calls for a few checks:

• float, from 0.07 to 0.15;

• how the yellow elements contrast with the dark body;

• the name tag and stickers this AWP | Phobos already carries.

You can pick up an AWP | Phobos at any float from 0.07 to 0.15, almost blind, since the band is tight. No single copy is worth hunting for, as the artwork is identical across them.

What the AWP | Phobos costs in Minimal Wear

Factory New is dearer by a little over two times. Field-Tested is cheaper by a fifth. Well-Worn, by contrast, costs one and a half times as much and more, and it has the narrowest band of them all, just 0.38 to 0.40.

Among Restricted AWP finishes, the Phobos in MW is cheaper than eight, and only the AWP | Pit Viper sits below it. Above it, in order, come the AWP | Worm God, AWP | PAW and AWP | Exothermic. Then the AWP | POP AWP, and in the upper part of the row the AWP | Black Box, AWP | Exoskeleton and AWP | Pink DDPAT.

Getting the AWP | Phobos

From the Gamma Case. The second route is a trade-up contract of ten Mil-Spec skins, and the result comes from the collection of one of the inputs. With all ten from The Gamma Collection, one AWP | Phobos arrives with a one-in-five chance; mixed sets split the chances among the collections of the inputs.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The AWP | Phobos has a StatTrak version. There are no Souvenir packages for this finish.

Stickers and craft on the AWP | Phobos

A dark body gives light stickers a readable background. The yellow stripes on the receiver make a busy backdrop next to a sticker, so the stock with its rings looks calmer. In CS2 a sticker craft on this AWP in MW looks clean, because the base is not worn away.

Who this wear suits

Minimal Wear on the AWP | Phobos is worth buying in these cases:

• you want a Restricted AWP whose yellow stripes still contrast;

• you do not want to sift through floats in the narrow 0.07 to 0.15 band;

• the skin is going into a CS2 trade-up at the lower end of the row.
