Description

The AWP | Worm God in Field-Tested (FT) is the condition where the thin black lines are already broken along the edges. The tangle on the side is still whole. The wear band for this grade is 0.15 to 0.38. The rank is Restricted, and the rifle comes from the Chroma 2 Case.

What the AWP | Worm God looks like in Field-Tested

The receiver, stock and grip are light gray, almost whitish, with yellow-olive stains spread across them. Thin black lines and curls lie on top. The butt plate is dark gray rubber, and the barrel, bipod and rail are left as bare dark metal.

The paint covers only the receiver, stock and grip. The main element is a tangle of black windings on the right side of the receiver. It crawls onto the stock, where there is also a pale oval with faint circular swirls. The lines form worm-like bends, but there are no recognizable figures, letters or numbers in them.

The drawing is hairline black thread over a light base. In Field-Tested it vanishes wherever metal protrudes. That means the receiver edges, the rim of the cheek piece, the lip of the butt plate and the ribs of the grip. The tangle on the flat side holds even at the top of the grade. The light base gets grimy on its own, and by 0.38 the rifle looks smeared.

Where the AWP | Worm God came from

The author of the finish is known as enzYm. He posted the submission on January 16, 2015 under the working title "AWP l twine (worm god)", from the word twine, meaning string. The tangle of lines on the side explains that string. In Valve's catalog of finishes the item stands at number 424.

The skin's collection, the one tied to the Chroma 2 Case, went live on April 15, 2015.

What to check before buying

An AWP | Worm God listing is chosen by these signs:

  • the float: at 0.15 the black threads are intact almost everywhere, at 0.38 they are broken on every edge;

  • the cleanliness of the light base, since the yellow-olive stains darken and merge toward the top of the band;

  • a name tag and stickers, if they are already on this AWP | Worm God.

The pattern index changes nothing on the AWP | Worm God. In this grade the band is long, 0.15 to 0.38, so comparing several listings pays off. The finish's scale breaks off at 0.45, and Battle-Scarred does not exist for it: the most worn grade here is Well-Worn.

What the AWP | Worm God costs in Field-Tested

The ratios across the four grades are these:

  • Factory New costs about 1.6 times as much;

  • Minimal Wear costs about a fifth more;

  • Well-Worn costs about a tenth more.

The difference from the neighbors above and below is next to nothing, and the more worn grade even ends up costing more than this one. That order cannot be relied on: it is set by a couple of listings, not by how the rifle looks.

There are ten Restricted AWPs with a price in this grade, and the Worm God is fourth among them counting up. Phobos and PAW run level with it, one finish costs twice as much, and another costs less than half. The dearest finish in the rank is Pink DDPAT.

Getting the AWP | Worm God

The first route is the Chroma 2 Case, which opens with a key. Apart from the case, the AWP | Worm God comes out of a trade-up of ten skins one step lower, drawn from anywhere. Take all ten from this set and the result comes from it. The collection holds four Restricted skins, so the chance of getting this particular one is one in four.

StatTrak and Souvenir

Stickers and craft on the AWP | Worm God

The AWP | Worm God has a StatTrak version. Souvenir copies of the finish turn up as well, though no Souvenir packages were ever made for it: packages only ever covered tournament map collections. Those copies are built with the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a normal skin from the inventory.

A light base with black tracery makes a fragmented background, and a small sticker gets lost in it. The calmest places are the cheek piece and the part of the receiver below the tangle; dark stickers read more sharply than colored ones on the whitish ground.

Who this wear suits

Field-Tested on the AWP | Worm God is worth buying if at least one of these fits:

  • you want an inexpensive rifle in CS2 with a recognizable drawing;

  • you are ready to choose by float, since the look changes a great deal within the band;

  • the intact tangle on the side matters, and the edges do not.

The money difference from the cleaner neighboring grade is tiny, but the visual one is clear: there the threads are intact on the ribs too. For a CS2 showcase, take the AWP from higher up the scale.
