M4A4 | Desolate Space (Battle-Scarred)

The M4A4 | Desolate Space in Battle-Scarred (BS) is the bottom of the scale for this space-themed rifle. It is Classified and belongs to the Gamma Collection, with the Gamma Case as its source. The float here covers 0.45 to 1.00, which is more than half of the skin's whole scale.

What the M4A4 | Desolate Space looks like in Battle-Scarred

The body is lilac-violet, with turquoise clouds of glow spreading across it like neon smoke. A gold-olive figure in a spacesuit helmet stands at the center of the receiver, and yellow-green stripes lie along the handguard. The barrel, the front sight and parts of the stock are lighter than the body, in a lilac-blue.

Battle-Scarred brings the heaviest wear: bare metal comes through on the receiver edges, on the handguard and on the magazine rib. The large figure and the turquoise clouds in the middle of the side stay readable for as long as the paint holds on the flat surface.

Where the M4A4 | Desolate Space came from

The skin entered the game in June 2016. The author is Andy, whose Steam Workshop submission "PC-CSGO | M4A4 "Desolate Space"" was filed on May 14, 2016. By his account the artwork was inspired by 1970s science fiction, and he showed the progress of the work in a Polycount thread. In Valve's catalog the skin has number 588.

What to check before buying

Listings differ on these points:

• the float: this wear covers 0.45 to 1.00;

• the receiver and handguard edges, where the metal shows most;

• a name tag and stickers, if they are already on the rifle.

Two different patterns of this skin do not exist. The 0.45 to 1.00 band holds both almost clean bodies and clearly scuffed ones.

What the M4A4 | Desolate Space costs in Battle-Scarred

Here is how the remaining wears stand against this one:

• Factory New costs 4.4 times as much;

• Minimal Wear costs 1.6 times more;

• Field-Tested and Well-Worn sit level with it.

The three lower wears form a flat plateau, and the jump comes at Minimal Wear and Factory New. Of the seven Classified M4A4 skins, two are cheaper than this one in this wear and four are more expensive. Just above are the M4A4 | Cyber Security (about 1.5 times more) and the M4A4 | Falak. Below is the M4A4 | Tooth Fairy, cheaper by almost four times.

Getting the M4A4 | Desolate Space

It drops from the Gamma Case. The second route is a trade-up: ten skins one rank lower. The outcome is random: with ten skins from the Gamma Collection, the chance of landing this rifle is one in three.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The finish has a StatTrak version. Souvenir packages were never produced for it.

Stickers and craft on the M4A4 | Desolate Space

The violet and turquoise palette takes white and yellow stickers without losing legibility. Holographic stickers echo the glow. It is better not to cover the figure in the center of the side, and to place a craft on the stock and the magazine instead.

Who this wear suits

Battle-Scarred makes sense if:

• you want the lowest price the skin has: up to Factory New the gap is 4.4 times;

• the state of the edges is secondary and the space scene on the side of the receiver is what counts;

• the rifle is for CS2 matches, where scuffs do not affect the weapon.
