M4A4 | Desolate Space (Minimal Wear)

The M4A4 | Desolate Space in Minimal Wear (MW) is the version where the violet base and the turquoise glow are still intact and the wear is only hinted at. It is a Classified rifle from the Gamma Collection, and the case that carries it is the Gamma Case. By float, it covers the band from 0.07 to 0.15.

What the M4A4 | Desolate Space looks like in Minimal Wear

The scene sits on a lilac-violet base. Turquoise plumes spread across the receiver and handguard, a gold-olive figure in a helmet stands mid-side, and yellow-green stripes run along the handguard. The barrel and front sight are painted pale lilac.

Minimal Wear leaves a few isolated light specks on the most exposed edges: the top edge of the receiver and the rib of the magazine. Color and glow stay saturated. You only notice this wear up close, and only on the dark areas of the body.

Where the M4A4 | Desolate Space came from

The skin was released in June 2016 together with the Gamma Collection. Andy's Steam Workshop submission is dated May 14, 2016, and the author wrote that the design was inspired by 1970s science fiction. In Valve's catalog the finish carries number 588.

What to check before buying

Before you buy, run through a few points:

• the float: for this wear it stays between 0.07 and 0.15;

• the light specks on the edges: how many there are depends on where the listing sits in the band;

• whether the rifle already carries stickers or a name tag.

There is no "rare" pattern to pay extra for: the artwork is identical on every copy. The 0.07 to 0.15 band is short, so the differences between listings disappear into noise. It covers 8% of the scale.

What the M4A4 | Desolate Space costs in Minimal Wear

The neighboring wears sit like this:

• Factory New costs 2.8 times more;

• Field-Tested costs 1.5 times less;

• Well-Worn costs 1.55 times less;

• Battle-Scarred costs 1.6 times less.

Among the eight Classified M4A4 skins, this one ranks second from the bottom in this wear: only the M4A4 | Tooth Fairy is cheaper, and six cost more. Just above are the M4A4 | 龍王 (Dragon King), roughly a fifth more expensive, and the M4A4 | Cyber Security. The M4A4 | Falak costs three times as much, and the M4A4 | Poseidon nearly sixty times as much.

Stickers and craft on the M4A4 | Desolate Space

Light stickers work best for a craft: on the violet side, white and yellow ones stand out the most. It is better not to cover the turquoise glow. The stock, the magazine and the upper part of the handguard are the freer areas.

Who this wear suits

Minimal Wear is a reasonable pick when:

• you want the finish looking untouched, and Factory New costs 2.8 times more;

• the lower wears are cheaper by about one and a half times, but show their wear more;

• the rifle is for CS2, where the wear makes no difference to shooting.
