In Battle-Scarred (BS) the M4A4 | Griffin reaches a ceiling of 0.80: the finish does not come more worn than that. Its float here lies between 0.45 and 0.80, more than a quarter of the scale. Its rank is Restricted, and the rifle for the counter-terrorists belongs to The Vanguard Collection.
What the M4A4 | Griffin looks like in Battle-Scarred
The base is a dark gray-green with the artwork over it: a griffin with a white head and copper-brown wings takes up the side of the receiver. The handguard and barrel shroud carry the same rusty-orange patches. The bottom of the magazine glows turquoise.
Valve's description speaks of hand painting, with a griffin as the illustration. In Battle-Scarred the paint has worn off the edges, and gray metal shows at the corners of the receiver and stock. The large griffin stays legible, but the edges of the wings lose their sharpness. Wear is set when the skin drops.
Where the M4A4 | Griffin came from
The Vanguard Collection came out on November 12, 2014, and the rifle has been listed in it from day one. That day Valve launched Operation Vanguard: free access to six community maps and a campaign in which missions paid out rewards such as additional operation cases.
What to check before buying
When choosing an M4A4 | Griffin, pay attention to the following:
- float: the band from 0.45 to 0.80 is long, and there is a visible difference between its edges;
- the head and wings of the griffin on the side: how worn the outlines are;
- the name tag and stickers this M4A4 | Griffin already carries.
The artwork is one and the same on every copy, and rare ones do not exist. In this wear the skin spans a long band from 0.45 to 0.80, so comparing several listings makes sense.
What the M4A4 | Griffin costs in Battle-Scarred
The other wears relative to Battle-Scarred:
- Factory New costs 23.7 times as much;
- Minimal Wear costs 1.8 times as much;
- Field-Tested costs 1.1 times as much;
- Well-Worn costs 1.9 times as much.
The gap to Factory New is huge, almost twenty-four times. Among Restricted M4A4s in Battle-Scarred the skin costs more than three: M4A4 | Etch Lord, M4A4 | Sheet Lightning and M4A4 | Turbine. M4A4 | Evil Daimyo sits level with it, and M4A4 | Spider Lily costs more.
Getting the M4A4 | Griffin
The Operation Vanguard Weapon Case is the source of the rifle, and the finish has no other cases.
The second route is a trade-up: ten skins of the rank below from any collections, with the result depending on the collections of the inputs. If all ten come from Vanguard, the result is picked among the collection's four Restricted skins, and the rifle comes out with a one-in-four chance.
StatTrak and Souvenir
The M4A4 | Griffin has a StatTrak version. No Souvenir packages exist for the finish: they were made only for tournament map collections. You can make a Souvenir copy yourself through the Souvenir-O-Matic.
Stickers and craft on the M4A4 | Griffin
The griffin lies on the side of the receiver, so stickers are easier to place on the dark handguard or the stock. Light stickers stand out better there. Rusty and copper tones repeat the color of the wings and do not stand out.
Who this wear suits
A Battle-Scarred M4A4 | Griffin makes sense when:
- you want a griffin M4 for CS2 cheaper than in the other four wears;
- scuffed edges are fine and the artwork on the side still reads;
- price matters more than the condition of the paint.
