M4A4 | The Battlestar (Field-Tested)

The M4A4 | The Battlestar in Field-Tested (FT) is a Covert skin from the Wildfire Collection, built for the counter-terrorist side. The float here runs from 0.15 to 0.38, and on price this wear is among the cheapest of the skin. It drops from the Operation Wildfire Case, and the rifle can be bought in all five wears for CS2.

What the M4A4 | The Battlestar looks like in Field-Tested

Valve's description of this finish says nothing about the paint. What survives are the author's own words from the Workshop submission: he called the work an olive-green color scheme with yellow accents. In his words, it is a new scheme of his earlier M4A4 "Big Iron".

This wear of the skin has a float of 0.15 to 0.38. That is a little more than a third of the skin's scale, which ends at 0.64.

Where the M4A4 | The Battlestar came from

The finish is the work of Millenia. The submission "M4A4 :: Battlestar" appeared in the Steam Workshop in September 2015. The skin was released in February 2016, together with Operation Wildfire. Its number in Valve's catalog is 533.

What to check before buying

Before buying the M4A4 | The Battlestar, check the following:

• float: it shows how worn a particular copy is;


• the name tag and stickers this rifle already carries;


• StatTrak: a version with a counter exists, and it is a separate item with its own price.

The artwork is the same on every copy, so there is no right one to hunt for. For this skin the float number matters more than the wear label, since the 0.15 to 0.38 stretch holds different looks.

What the M4A4 | The Battlestar costs in Field-Tested

Field-Tested is the lower edge of the skin's prices:

• Factory New costs a little over twice as much;


• Minimal Wear costs a few percent more;


• Well-Worn costs about a tenth more;


• Battle-Scarred costs a few percent more.

The three lower wears barely differ in price, which means most of the gap comes from the step up to Factory New.

Among Covert M4A4s with a price in this wear, the skin is in the bottom three. Right alongside it are M4A4 | Temukau and M4A4 | Desert-Strike. The top of the row is held by M4A4 | Eye of Horus, M4A4 | Buzz Kill and M4A4 | The Coalition.

Getting the M4A4 | The Battlestar

The M4A4 | The Battlestar drops from the Operation Wildfire Case. It also comes out of a trade-up: ten Classified skins go in. If they are from this collection, it has two Covert skins, the other being AK-47 | Fuel Injector, so the chance of getting this rifle is one in two.

The Covert rank leads further, into a knife craft. For the Wildfire Collection that knife is the Bowie Knife.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The M4A4 | The Battlestar has a StatTrak version. Souvenir copies of the finish exist too, but no packages were issued for it, since those were made only for tournament map collections. Such copies are built through the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from the inventory.

Stickers and craft on the M4A4 | The Battlestar

The author described the scheme as olive green with yellow accents, so white and red stickers will give contrast, while green and olive ones will merge with the body. Yellow ones will echo the accents of the finish.

Who this wear suits

Buying the M4A4 | The Battlestar in Field-Tested is sensible when:

• you need a Covert M4 skin without paying extra for Factory New;


• wear up to 0.38 is acceptable and the price matters more than clean paint;


• you are putting together a set of Wildfire skins.

The other wears of this skin cost more, but two of them differ from Field-Tested by only a few percent.
