Description

The M4A4 | Zubastick in Field-Tested (FT) is the cheapest version of the finish: all five grades are inexpensive, but this one costs less than the other four. The float band is 0.15 to 0.38. The rank is Mil-Spec, and the only source for this M4 is the Sealed Dead Hand Terminal, which is handed out as a weekly drop.

What the M4A4 | Zubastick looks like in Field-Tested

The base is dark gray, and over it run rows of curved strokes in bone white and light gray. The pattern covers everything: the handguard, receiver, magazine, grip, stock, gas block and front sight, while the barrel, flash hider and sling mount are left unpainted. A red-orange underlayer beneath the white shows on the front sight, the gas block, in the handguard slots, along the lower edge of the receiver and at the butt plate. There are no teeth or jaws in the drawing, which the name promises: it is a repeating brushstroke with no focal center.

In Field-Tested more red shows. The white strokes lie in a thin layer on the protruding ribs. Those are bared first: the ribs of the handguard, the edge of the magazine well, the stock corners and the lugs around the front sight. The flat sides stay white longer, so in FT the rifle reads as gray-white with a red edging.

Where the M4A4 | Zubastick came from

The finish was made by an author who posts as Freddy. The work reached the Steam Workshop on January 29, 2025 under the working title "Zubastick V.3 || M4A4", meaning a third revision. The M4A4 | Zubastick arrived with the Dead Hand Collection, released on March 11, 2026. In Valve's note the set is described as seventeen finishes by community authors, with twenty-two pairs of new gloves named as the rare items. In Valve's catalog of finishes the design is number 1432.

What to check before buying

On an M4A4 | Zubastick, look at these things before paying:

  • the float: the band is 0.15 to 0.38, and at the upper edge the red underlayer comes through along every rib;

  • the lugs around the front sight and the edge of the magazine well, where the white layer goes first;

  • stickers and a name tag that came to the M4A4 | Zubastick from a previous owner.

There is no point hunting the M4A4 | Zubastick by pattern index: the artwork does not change. The band from 0.15 to 0.38 leaves room to choose, and copies near 0.15 are cleaner.

What the M4A4 | Zubastick costs in Field-Tested

The ratios to the other grades look like this:

  • Factory New is six times dearer;

  • Minimal Wear is about three quarters dearer;

  • Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred are dearer too, but the markup there is smaller.

So FT is the price floor for this finish, even though two grades lie lower by wear. The difference across all five versions is small, so the order inside the worn trio is a matter of rounding, not of any property of the finish. There is one noticeable step, and it is the factory one: for a clean white pattern people ask several times more.

Among Mil-Spec M4A4s in Field-Tested, the finish is second from the bottom by price of nine. Only M4A4 | Choppa is cheaper, and M4A4 | Poly Mag costs almost the same. M4A4 | Converter and M4A4 | Magnesium are already several times dearer.

Getting the M4A4 | Zubastick

There is one route: the Sealed Dead Hand Terminal. A contract cannot produce this skin, because Mil-Spec is the lowest rank in the collection and there is nothing to hand in for it. The finish does work as an input, though: ten Mil-Spec skins from the set give one Restricted skin.

StatTrak and Souvenir

Stickers and craft on the M4A4 | Zubastick

The M4A4 | Zubastick has a StatTrak version. Souvenir copies of the finish turn up as well, though no Souvenir packages were ever made for it: packages only ever covered tournament map collections. Those copies are built with the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a normal skin from the inventory.

The finish has no focal center, and that frees your hands: a sticker covers nothing important wherever it lands. The gray-white base is neutral and takes any color, while the red edging suggests a warm palette. In FT the ribs are already red, so keep stickers away from the edges.

Who this wear suits

This wear is the right one for the M4A4 | Zubastick if one of these applies:

  • you want an inexpensive M4 for a sticker build in CS2;

  • you like the red edging along the ribs more than a clean white-and-gray look;

  • you are trying the skin out: nothing in the finish costs less than this grade.

There is no reason to move down to Well-Worn or Battle-Scarred: they cost no less, and there is more red on them. In first-person CS2 the pattern is hard to make out anyway.
