The SSG 08 | Dragonfire in Field-Tested (FT) sits in the middle of the scale, where the fire artwork still holds its brightness but scuffs already work along the edges. Its float runs from 0.15 to 0.38. It is a Covert skin, available to both sides, and it belongs to the Glove Collection.
What the SSG 08 | Dragonfire looks like in Field-Tested
The front of the receiver and the stock are flooded with fiery orange and red streaks, like flames. Toward the middle of the weapon lie dark scales in black and turquoise tones, and a dragon's head emerges from among them. The barrel with its muzzle brake, the bipod and the scope remain black. Valve describes the finish as hydrographics with a monstrous dragon breathing fire.
In Field-Tested the orange dulls along the edges of the forend and stock and the black scales lose depth, but the overall artwork reads without difficulty. Wear is fixed when the skin drops, so a listing stays in the state its float shows.
Between 0.15 and 0.38 the scuffing on the SSG 08 | Dragonfire builds up noticeably. That is 46% of the finish's scale, which ends at 0.50.
What to check before buying
On a listing of the SSG 08 | Dragonfire, these are the points to look at:
- float: it decides how bright the fire areas on the forend and stock have stayed;
- the dragon's head in the middle of the weapon, which should read in full with no worn-off outlines;
- the name tag and stickers this SSG 08 | Dragonfire already carries.
The pattern on the SSG 08 | Dragonfire is fixed, so the price does not depend on it.
What the SSG 08 | Dragonfire costs in Field-Tested
The other wears, relative to this one:
- Factory New costs about one and a half times what this wear does;
- Minimal Wear costs about a tenth more;
- Well-Worn costs about a sixth less;
- Battle-Scarred costs only a few percent less.
Only two Covert SSG 08 skins exist. In this wear the Dragonfire costs more than twice as much as the other one, the SSG 08 | Blood in the Water.
Getting the SSG 08 | Dragonfire
The SSG 08 | Dragonfire drops from the Glove Case, and no other CS2 case carries this finish. The skin appeared on November 2, 2016, when the Glove Collection was added to the game. The case gave the collection its name: besides weapons, gloves drop from it.
A trade-up for the SSG 08 | Dragonfire is built from ten Classified skins taken from wherever. All ten out of this collection send the result back into it. The odds are one in two: the collection has two Covert skins, the second being the M4A4 | Buzz Kill. Past that, the Covert rank leads not to a trade-up but to a glove craft.
StatTrak and Souvenir
A StatTrak version of the SSG 08 | Dragonfire is available. Souvenir sets for this finish were never produced, because only tournament map collections got them. But a Souvenir copy is something you can assemble yourself: the Souvenir-O-Matic fits gold tournament stickers and a player autograph onto a normal skin from the inventory. For that reason a few Souvenir copies appear now and then even though no set ever existed.
Stickers and craft on the SSG 08 | Dragonfire
The fiery palette leaves room for cool colors: turquoise and white stickers on the black scales near the stock read clearly, while bright ones get lost on the orange areas.
The artwork does not differ between copies, so in a craft the sticker palette decides everything. Red and orange stickers amplify the fire; blue and turquoise ones add the opposite accent.
Who this wear suits
Field-Tested is worth buying if at least one of these applies:
- you want a Covert Scout with a fiery pattern and a dragon;
- Battle-Scarred costs a few percent less and Well-Worn about a sixth less, while Field-Tested carries less wear;
- in CS2 the sniper rifle should stand out by color at first glance.
If the brightness of the fire areas matters most, look at Factory New instead: it costs about one and a half times as much.
