Why Grey Costs More Than Colours
Prismatic: Miasmatic Grey recolours an item's Ethereal effect to grey. It is one of the most expensive shades in the line, and it gets asked about more than most of the colours.
How a Prismatic Gem Works
Grey breaks the logic of the rest of the range. Ethereal effects are bright by default, and a muted version makes a courier or an item look restrained — which no coloured gem can do.
Few copies of this shade were issued and demand for it has held for years. Hence the gap: mass-market colours go for a few dollars, this one for considerably more.
So what you are paying for is the scarcity of one particular colour, not any difference in how it works.
What Not Deletable Means
It sets the colour of the Ethereal effect on whatever item it is socketed in. Producing the effect is the job of a second gem, the Ethereal one.
It goes into rare sockets, which cannot be created — they exist on Unusual couriers and on some items. None of this touches gameplay.
Dota 2 splits the two deliberately: one effect can be worn in a dozen shades without buying a new courier.
What to Check Before Buying
The flag means the item cannot be removed from an inventory. Buying, selling and socketing it are all unaffected.
It carries almost no practical meaning for a buyer — deleting a gem is not something anyone needs to do.
Flags like this turn up on items from older events and are left over from a time when crafting worked differently.
What It Costs
A gem is worth buying once you already own an item with a rare socket. On its own it shows nothing in game.
And the important part: if a Prismatic gem is already in that socket, the new one destroys it. The swap cannot be undone, so an expensive shade belongs in the item you intend to keep.
Check how the effect reads on your own courier as well — grey behaves differently on different models, blending into dark ones and sharpening the outline of pale ones.
Where to Buy Prismatic: Miasmatic Grey
The upper end of the Prismatic range. The figure in the card above comes from current offers and moves with the market.
On LIS-SKINS it usually sits below Valve's own marketplace, and at this level the difference is noticeable.
On LIS-SKINS the gem is available from this page, with the rest of the shades beside it in the gems and runes section.
Steam login, payment by card, cryptocurrency or e-wallet, and it arrives in your inventory.
If grey turns out dearer than you wanted, look at the neighbouring muted shades — on a model they differ less than the names suggest.
