★ Bayonet

The ★ Bayonet without a skin is the bare bayonet: nothing on it except the steel of the blade and the handle. The listing description marks it as unpainted. Covert rank, with the ★ mark. This knife has no wear tier at all: with no skin there is no wear, no float and no pattern, and every copy is identical.

What the ★ Bayonet looks like

The blade is straight and narrow, tapering to the point. A deep fuller runs down the center, and an oval hole is cut near the tip. The steel is light, with traces of soft factory grinding, and the spine is smooth, without serrations.

The guard is a flat square plate with no curves. The handle is made of ribbed rings in a pale olive-sand color, and a steel plug closes the butt. Color on this knife comes from the steel and that handle, and there is nothing else on it.

How the plain ★ Bayonet differs from a skinned one

On a bayonet the skin decides how the blade looks and what the listing costs. Without one the choice shrinks:

• there is no wear tier, neither Factory New nor Battle-Scarred, and the listing gives no float band;


• there is no pattern or phase, so two such knives are indistinguishable;


• a name tag can be applied, and the name stays on the knife when it is resold;


• knives have no sticker slots at all, so there is nowhere to attach them.

Bare steel sits in the rare special item pool with the skins, and when you open a case you can neither pick it nor rule it out. The second road is a trade-up contract: five Covert skins from one collection turn into a rare special item, but there too neither the model nor the skin is chosen.
