The ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Black Pearl in Factory New (FN) is the most expensive Doppler variant on this model in CS2. Rank-wise it is Covert, with the ★ mark. Cases that carry the knife are the Spectrum Case and the Spectrum 2 Case. The finish's wear scale ends at 0.08, so it has only two wears: Factory New and Minimal Wear (MW).
What the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Black Pearl looks like in Factory New
The blade is flooded with dark pearl: violet and purple swirls, nearly black at the heel, with cold blue highlights across the flat. The handles stay black, and a stripe running along each half shifts from blue to violet. The latch is dark, nearly black, with the same violet cast. There are no markings or numbers on the blade. By Valve's description, Doppler is applied with black and silver paint through a marbling compound and sealed with lacquer, which accounts for the depth of color and the wet shine.
The wear band for this wear is 0.00–0.07, and for this finish that is the bottom of its own scale. Between 0.00 and 0.07 the look of the Butterfly Knife in Doppler Black Pearl does not change. Scratches settle on the cutting edge and the protruding edge of the handle, but in FN it does not come to bare metal.
Where the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Black Pearl came from
The Butterfly Knife itself appeared in the game before the finish, in 2014. Doppler reached it only on March 15, 2017, with the Take a trip to the Canals update and the Spectrum Case, and was repeated later in the Spectrum 2 Case. Valve itself drew the finish, and in the catalog it is number 417.
Phase and pattern
Doppler is not one finish but a family, and the phase is part of the item name. Phases 1 through 4 are the regular ones, while Ruby, Sapphire, and Black Pearl are the rare variants, called gems in CS2. These three phases exist only on Doppler: Gamma Doppler has its own rare phase, Emerald. Choosing a page, the buyer chooses the gem too: the main premium goes for it, not for the wear.
Among the gems on this model, the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Black Pearl costs the most. Ruby trails it by about a tenth of the price. Sapphire and the emerald Gamma Doppler trail by more than a third, and a regular Phase 2 is cheaper by about two and a half times.
What to check before buying
Before paying for the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Black Pearl, look at these things:
- the phase in the listing name: a gem and a regular phase sit on different pages, and on a small thumbnail they are easy to confuse;
- float within the wear: it does not affect the look here, but at these sums it is always checked;
- the name tag: the knife takes one, and it stays on the item after purchase;
- the version of the listing: the StatTrak variant is a separate item with its own price.
What the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Black Pearl costs in Factory New
Among all Covert finishes of the Butterfly Knife this is the most expensive entry, above Ruby, the emerald Gamma Doppler, and Crimson Web. The cheapest finishes of the same model, the Butterfly Knife | Bright Water and the Butterfly Knife | Freehand, trail the Black Pearl by about twenty times. Minimal Wear on this gem takes just one hundredth of the scale, from 0.07 to 0.08. So the choice by wear comes down to one question: take FN or wait for a rare MW.
Getting the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Black Pearl
There are two routes. The first is the Spectrum Case and the Spectrum 2 Case: the knife drops from them as a rare ★ item, and the phase you get is random. The second is a contract: knives and gloves are built from five Covert skins of one collection, and the result is random too. A finished listing remains the only way to pick the gem deliberately.
StatTrak and Souvenir
A StatTrak version of the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Black Pearl exists in the game; there is no Souvenir version.
Who this wear suits
The ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Black Pearl in Factory New is worth buying in these situations:
- if you want the maximum: nothing in Doppler on this model costs more than Black Pearl;
- if you are building a set around a dark violet-blue palette: the blade and the stripes on the handles fit it completely;
- if clean edges on the blade and handles matter: in Minimal Wear the first marks already appear on them.
