The ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Phase 1 in Factory New (FN) is a CS2 butterfly knife with a pink-violet blade from the Doppler family. Covert rank, with the ★ mark. The butterfly with this finish comes from the Spectrum Case and Spectrum 2 Case. The finish has only two wears, because its float stops at 0.08. This wear of the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Phase 1 lies between 0.00 and 0.07.
What the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Phase 1 looks like in Factory New
The blade is flooded with swirls of pink, purple and dark blue, with a marbled structure over them. The handles are black, each half holds a raspberry inset, and the latch is red-violet. Valve describes the coloring as black and silver metallic paint over a marbled base, under a clear colored lacquer.
In Factory New the lacquer is intact over the whole blade. Wear is determined at the drop and does not grow afterward. In this wear the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Phase 1 is a narrow band of 0.00 to 0.07, and copies barely differ from each other.
Where the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Phase 1 came from
Valve drew the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Phase 1, and there is no Steam Workshop submission for the finish. In Valve's catalog the finish is number 418. Doppler reached the butterfly on March 15, 2017, with the Spectrum Case, and the Spectrum 2 Case became a second source. The model itself is older than the finish: it came out in 2014, in Operation Breakout.
Phase and pattern
Doppler is a family of finishes, and the phase is in the item name: you pick Phase 1 yourself and do not pull it out of a case. Phases 1 to 4 are regular, while Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl are gems, and there are only three of them. Within one phase the copies still differ: the pattern index shifts the colors on the blade, changing their share and placement.
Common nicknames exist for the neighboring phases. In Phase 3, copies with no blue on the face resemble Black Pearl and are called "Fake Black Pearl"; in Phase 4, "Max Blue" is prized. How the colors spread on a particular Phase 1 copy is visible in the lot image.
What to check before buying
Before buying the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Phase 1, check the following:
- the phase in the lot title: Phase 1, the other phases and the gems sit on separate pages;
- the blade in the lot image: it shows how pink, purple and blue have spread;
- float: the 0.00 to 0.07 band is tight, and by number the lots barely differ;
- an applied name: a name tag already on a butterfly stays with it after purchase.
What the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Phase 1 costs in Factory New
Here the phase sets the price, not wear: Minimal Wear (MW) takes one hundredth of the scale, the band from 0.07 to 0.08. Among the regular phases, Phase 3 is fifteen percent cheaper than Phase 1, Phase 4 is thirteen percent dearer, and Phase 2 is about 1.8 times as much. The gems are higher: Sapphire is 2.6 times Phase 1, Ruby 4.4 times, and Black Pearl costs noticeably more than Ruby.
Of the 33 butterfly finishes in Factory New, twenty-five are cheaper than Phase 1 and seven dearer. The nearest below are Fade by eleven percent, Ultraviolet by thirteen and Gamma Doppler Phase 2 by fourteen. The bottom of the row is held by Bright Water, Freehand and Forest DDPAT.
Getting the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Phase 1

Who this wear suits
Buying the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Phase 1 in Factory New makes sense under these conditions:
- you want a regular Doppler phase with no premium for a gem: Ruby costs 4.4 times as much;
- you want a pink-blue blade with black handles and raspberry insets;
- your CS2 loadout is built on pink and violet, and the black handles do not clash with the rest of the equipment.
