The ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Ruby in Minimal Wear already shows the first marks on the blade's edge. The rank is Covert and the name carries a ★. Ruby is one of three rare Doppler variants and costs more than any ordinary phase. The wear scale stops at 0.08, so there are two grades: Factory New (FN) and Minimal Wear (MW).
What the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Ruby looks like in Minimal Wear
The blade is flooded with scarlet lacquer, lighter toward the tip and deep cherry at the heel. Murky dark blotches over the flat are the marbled structure of ruby. The handles are black with a red-orange stripe along each half, the latch red, and no stamps or lettering appear.
Float values here run from 0.07 to 0.08. The cutting edge and the blade tip go first, then the handle ribs, where the scarlet rubs down to bare metal. Factory New carries none of them; here they show on a close look.
Where the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Ruby came from
Doppler was made by Valve and has no outside artist. On this model it appeared on March 15, 2017 with the Spectrum Case, under a note Valve titled Take a trip to the Canals. Doppler later went into the Spectrum 2 Case as well. Its catalog number is 415, and the model is three years older than the finish.
Phase and pattern
Doppler is a set of phases named in the listing title. Phases 1 through 4 are ordinary; Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl are the rare variants known as gems. Ruby exists only on Doppler, as Gamma Doppler has no such phase and its own rare variant is Emerald. In CS2 data the phase sits on knives alone.
Ruby is usually confused with Phase 2: in a small preview both blades read as red and pink. The difference is the shade. Phase 2 has a pink-purple blade and a crimson stripe on the handles; Ruby has a scarlet blade and a red-orange stripe. Inside an ordinary phase copies differ by pattern and good ones carry a premium; a gem's flat is one color, picked by the title.
What to check before buying
The 0.07–0.08 band is tight, so a copy comes down to:
- the phase in the title, since Ruby and Phase 2 are different products on different pages;
- the name tag, since it transfers to the buyer along with the blade;
- the version, as the StatTrak variant is a separate item with its own price;
- the edge and tip in the screenshot, where wear shows earliest.
What the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Ruby costs in Minimal Wear
Factory New stands only a twentieth above, so the premium for a completely clean blade is small.
Among Covert Butterfly Knife finishes here, Ruby is first by price. Emerald Gamma Doppler trails by about a quarter, an ordinary Phase 2 is half the price, and Fade a quarter of it.
Getting the ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Ruby
Both Spectrum cases give up the knife as a rare ★ item, but the drop picks the phase and Ruby cannot be ordered. A craft is just as random: five Covert skins of one collection go in, one gold weapon with a random phase comes out.
StatTrak and Souvenir
The ★ Butterfly Knife | Doppler Ruby has a StatTrak version; a Souvenir release was never made.
Who this wear suits
Minimal Wear makes sense when:
- a scarlet blade is the point, not the pink and purple of Phase 2;
- the loadout is red and black, which the stripe on the handles matches exactly;
- small marks on the edge are no obstacle and the Factory New premium is not wanted.
