The ★ Butterfly Knife | Freehand in Well-Worn (WW) is a purple CS2 butterfly knife scrawled over with metallic-marker signs. Covert rank, with the ★ mark. The finish has two cases: the Operation Riptide Case, named for the operation, and the Dreams & Nightmares Case. The float scale runs from 0.00 to 0.48, and all five wears fit on it. Well-Worn is assigned the 0.38 to 0.45 band, while Battle-Scarred squeezes into only 0.45 to 0.48.
What the ★ Butterfly Knife | Freehand looks like in Well-Worn
Valve describes the finish as black and purple paint with a metallic-marker drawing on top. On the blade that is a lilac field covered entirely in whitish-silver marks, strokes and squiggles that look like writing. The handles are black, with a purple stripe along each half, and the latch is purple too.
Well-Worn is the fourth of five wears, and the wear in it is already noticeable. It settles first on the tip of the blade and on the protruding ribs of the handles. Wear is fixed at drop, so a copy at 0.38 and a copy at 0.45 stay exactly as they are.
Where the ★ Butterfly Knife | Freehand came from
The finish came out in September 2021 with Operation Riptide, which Valve presented in the update "Introducing Operation Riptide". There are two sources, the case of that operation and the Dreams & Nightmares Case. By then the butterfly knife had been in the game for seven years.
What to check before buying
Before buying the ★ Butterfly Knife | Freehand, check a few points:
- float: the 0.38 to 0.45 band of the ★ Butterfly Knife | Freehand is tight, and listings at its extremes differ only by the number;
- the wear in the listing name: Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred are sold as separate products;
- your own name: a name tag can be put on a butterfly knife, and stickers have no place on it;
- the version: a StatTrak version is not mixed with a regular one in a single listing.
What the ★ Butterfly Knife | Freehand costs in Well-Worn
The Freehand finish moves moderately in price. Factory New costs a sixth more than Well-Worn, and Minimal Wear a twelfth more. Field-Tested and Battle-Scarred both sit level with it.
Among butterfly finishes in Well-Worn, Freehand is level with Ultraviolet and Black Laminate. Rust Coat and Lore are a few percent cheaper, and Stained six percent. In Factory New this finish is among the three cheapest Covert butterfly finishes.
Getting the ★ Butterfly Knife | Freehand
The knife drops from the Operation Riptide Case and the Dreams & Nightmares Case, and the wear is random. A contract offers a second route: five Covert skins from one collection turn into one rare special item, but neither the model nor the finish is chosen there. Buy the exact wear you need as a finished listing.
Is there a StatTrak version
A StatTrak version of the ★ Butterfly Knife | Freehand exists in the game.
Who this wear suits
Buying the ★ Butterfly Knife | Freehand in Well-Worn makes sense if at least one of these holds:
- you want a purple butterfly knife with a drawing rather than smooth paint;
- your CS2 loadout is put together in purple tones, and Factory New costs a sixth more;
- marks of wear on the edge do not bother you.
