The ★ Butterfly Knife | Gamma Doppler Phase 1 (Factory New) is a CS2 butterfly knife with a blade of turquoise, green and blue-violet swirls. It is Covert rank, with the ★ mark, and it drops from the Operation Riptide Case and the Dreams & Nightmares Case. The finish comes in two wears, Factory New (FN) and Minimal Wear (MW), because its float stops at 0.08. The Factory New band of the ★ Butterfly Knife | Gamma Doppler Phase 1 runs from 0.00 to 0.07.
What the ★ Butterfly Knife | Gamma Doppler Phase 1 looks like in Factory New
The blade is curved and covered in a marbled lacquer: turquoise at the tip, green through the middle, and blue-violet clouds near the base. The handles are black and perforated, and a bright green inlay runs along each half. The latch at the base is turquoise.
In Factory New no bare metal shows, and the lacquer on the edge and the tip is intact. Wear is fixed at the drop, so a copy stays as it is for good.
Where the ★ Butterfly Knife | Gamma Doppler Phase 1 came from
Valve created the ★ Butterfly Knife | Gamma Doppler Phase 1 itself, and there is no Steam Workshop submission for this finish. Valve's finish catalog lists it as number 569. It reached the butterfly knife in September 2021 with Operation Riptide; Valve's post about the operation is dated September 22. Later, on January 21, 2022, Valve added the Gamma knives from Riptide to the Dreams & Nightmares Case as rare special items.
Phase and pattern
On Gamma Doppler the phase is part of the item name, so Phase 1 is selected directly in the listing. There are four regular phases and a single gem, Emerald. Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl do not exist for Gamma Doppler; those gems belong to Doppler.
Phase 1 copies still differ from one another, since the pattern index shifts the balance of colors on the blade and their position. "BTA Cyan" is a nickname for Phase 3 and for turquoise-heavy copies, and it does not fit Phase 1.
What to check before buying
Choosing a listing for the ★ Butterfly Knife | Gamma Doppler Phase 1 takes a few checks:
- the phase in the listing name: Phases 1 to 4 and Emerald are separate items, and the shades of green blend together in a preview;
- the color layout on the blade, which is how copies of one phase are told apart;
- an applied name: a name tag on a butterfly knife is allowed, while the knife has no sticker slots;
- the StatTrak version, which sells as an item of its own.
Anywhere between 0.00 and 0.07 there is nothing to hunt for on float: the band offers no best copy.
What the ★ Butterfly Knife | Gamma Doppler Phase 1 costs in Factory New
Minimal Wear costs a seventh more than Factory New. Its band, 0.07 to 0.08, takes up one eighth of the float scale, so the premium is easy to explain.
Among Butterfly Knife finishes in Factory New, Gamma Doppler Phase 1 sits a little above the middle of the list. Lore and Night cost 3 percent more. Gamma Doppler Phases 3 and 4 are 1 to 2 percent cheaper, and Case Hardened is a seventh cheaper. Emerald costs four times as much as Phase 1, Doppler Ruby almost six times, and Doppler Black Pearl almost ten.
Getting the ★ Butterfly Knife | Gamma Doppler Phase 1
This butterfly knife drops from the Operation Riptide Case and from the Dreams & Nightmares Case, and the phase comes out random. The trade-up contract is a second route: five Covert skins from one collection yield one rare special item, but you cannot choose the model or the phase. Phase 1 is bought as a ready-made listing.
Is there a StatTrak version
A StatTrak version of the ★ Butterfly Knife | Gamma Doppler Phase 1 exists in the game.
Who this wear suits
Buy the ★ Butterfly Knife | Gamma Doppler Phase 1 in Factory New if at least one of these applies:
- you want a regular Gamma Doppler phase without paying extra for Emerald;
- your CS2 loadout is built in green and turquoise tones, and the green inlays on the handles pick up the blade;
- you want an intact edge, since this wear carries no marks on it.
