Description

Factory New on the ★ Karambit | Doppler Black Pearl is the dearest Covert finish this model has in CS2. The rank is Covert, with a ★ in front of the name. The Doppler finish drops from three cases of the Chroma series. The finish's own scale tops out at 0.08, which leaves two conditions in all: Factory New and Minimal Wear.

What the ★ Karambit | Doppler Black Pearl looks like in Factory New

Dark blue pearl covers the crescent blade from heel to tip. Violet and whitish streaks lie along the arc, and near the heel the tone is almost black. The pearl carries onto the finger ring and the handle butt. The handle with its four finger grooves is gray-green, and jimping shows on the spine by the heel.

This condition is allotted 0.00 to 0.07. The inner curve of the edge and the ring break first, the pearl lightening toward bare metal. In Factory New the arc stays dark end to end. Valve names the technique: black and silver metallic paint through a marbleizing agent under a clear coat.

Phase and pattern

Doppler comes in seven variants, four ordinary phases and three gems: Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl. The phase stands beside the finish in the product name, so a gem is chosen on purpose, not pulled from a case.

Inside a single phase the pattern index still matters. Phase 4 copies weighted toward blue are called BTA Blue; a blade flooded with blue throughout is Max Blue, easy to mistake for Sapphire. On Black Pearl the index governs how the texture lands over the dark base.

Where the ★ Karambit | Doppler Black Pearl came from

Valve made the finish: no Workshop entry stands behind Doppler, and the catalog holds it at 417. The release date is January 8, 2015, with the Full Spectrum update, which also brought the Chroma Case. On May 24, 2024, Valve corrected how Doppler is displayed, and the update note names the finish outright.

What to check before buying

Points worth verifying on this knife:

  • the phase in the listing title, since in a thumbnail dark pearl resembles Sapphire and blue Phase 4 copies;

  • the float, which in Factory New stays below 0.07;

  • an applied name, since a karambit takes a name tag and an earlier inscription stays;

  • the version, because the StatTrak copy is a separate listing.

The band is narrow, and copies are near indistinguishable.

What the ★ Karambit | Doppler Black Pearl costs in Factory New

The model's three top gems are priced almost level. Karambit | Doppler Ruby gives up a few percent, Gamma Doppler Emerald roughly a tenth. Below those sit Crimson Web and Doppler Sapphire, the Sapphire about one and a half times under the top. The cheapest Covert finishes, Bright Water and Freehand, trail by some fourteen times.

By condition the choice is short. Minimal Wear takes the top hundredth, 0.07 to 0.08, and Factory New covers everything under it.

Getting the ★ Karambit | Doppler Black Pearl

There are two sources. The knife sits in three Chroma cases: the Chroma Case opened the series, and the Chroma 2 Case and Chroma 3 Case followed. Which phase comes out is random. The alternative is a contract: five Covert skins from one collection return a random rare special item.

StatTrak and Souvenir

A StatTrak version of this knife exists; a Souvenir edition does not.

Who this wear suits

Factory New is the condition to buy when:

  • the top of the Covert rank is the goal, not a compromise between gems;

  • the loadout runs on dark cool tones, which blue pearl and a violet ring join;

  • the arc must be untouched, since Minimal Wear lightens the inner curve first.
