What the ★ Karambit | Doppler Phase 2 looks like in Factory New

The sickle-shaped blade is coated in pink-crimson lacquer. The color is saturated at the spine and lightens toward the edge, almost to white, with marbled clouds across the whole surface. The finger ring is pink-violet, and the gray handle is ribbed, with deep recesses. Valve’s description gives the base as black-and-silver metallic paint over a marbled medium, with a colored lacquer on top.

In Factory New the lacquer is whole from spine to point. The point and the cutting edge of the curve are where wear appears first, and in the top wear they carry no marks. Wear is set at drop, and the phase stays the way it was.

Where the ★ Karambit | Doppler Phase 2 came from

This finish is Valve’s own work, with no Steam Workshop submission behind it. Doppler reached the Karambit on January 8, 2015, with the Full Spectrum update and the Chroma Case. In Valve’s catalog the finish sits under number 419.

Phase and pattern

Doppler is a family of finishes, and the phase is part of the item name: you pick Phase 2 yourself instead of pulling it from a case. There are four regular phases, 1 through 4. Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl are gems, the rare variants of the finish. Copies of one phase are not equal, because the pattern index shifts the ratio of colors and their placement on the blade. For Phase 2 the common names for copies are “BTA Pink” and “Max Pink”, and “Pink Galaxy” turns up as well.
