★ Karambit | Doppler Phase 3 (Factory New)

The ★ Karambit | Doppler Phase 3 (Factory New) is the blue phase of Doppler, with a whitish haze across the blade. It is Covert rank, with the ★ mark, and in CS2 the karambit drops from the Chroma Case, and also from the Chroma 2 Case and the Chroma 3 Case. The float here only reaches 0.08, so the phase comes in two wears. Factory New (FN) fits into 0.00 to 0.07, and Minimal Wear (MW) takes what is left.

What the ★ Karambit | Doppler Phase 3 looks like in Factory New

The blade is hooked like a claw and flooded with blue: darker toward the spine, where it shades into violet, with whitish cloud swirls along the edge. Turquoise shows near the guard. The ring at the end of the handle is painted blue-violet to match the blade, and the handle itself is gray and ribbed. Valve describes the pattern as black and silver metallic paint with a marble medium under a colored lacquer.

In Factory New the lacquer is intact along the whole arc. Wear takes the tip and the cutting edge of the curve first. It is fixed at the drop, so a copy stays as it fell.

Where the ★ Karambit | Doppler Phase 3 came from

Valve created the ★ Karambit | Doppler Phase 3, and there is no Steam Workshop submission for this finish. Doppler arrived on the karambit on January 8, 2015, with the Chroma Case. In Valve's catalog it is number 420, the same as for the butterfly knife, where the finish arrived on March 15, 2017.

Phase and pattern

On Doppler the phase is part of the item name, and the buyer picks Phase 3 right in the listing. Phases 1 to 4 are regular, while Ruby, Sapphire and Black Pearl are gems. Copies of Phase 3 differ: the pattern index moves the balance of colors and where they sit on the blade.

Copies with no blue left on the front face resemble Black Pearl and are called "Fake Black Pearl". The gems themselves are separate items and cost many times more than any regular phase.

What to check before buying

What matters when buying the ★ Karambit | Doppler Phase 3:

• the phase in the listing name: Phase 3 and Black Pearl are separate items, and in a preview a "Fake Black Pearl" looks like Black Pearl;

• the front face of the blade: whether any blue is left decides if the copy is a regular one or a "Fake Black Pearl";

• an applied name: a name tag on the karambit is possible, though the karambit has no sticker slots;

• float: this wear is a short stretch of 0.00 to 0.07, so there is no point chasing the number.

What the ★ Karambit | Doppler Phase 3 costs in Factory New

Of the four regular Doppler phases on the karambit, Phase 3 ranks third in price. Phase 2 costs about a third more, and Phase 4 a couple of percent more. Phase 1 is four percent cheaper.

Among karambit finishes, Phase 3 stands level with Blue Steel and about ten percent above Slaughter and Lore. The gems are far away: Sapphire costs almost four times as much, and Black Pearl more than seven. Bright Water is more than two times cheaper than Phase 3.

Getting the ★ Karambit | Doppler Phase 3

The ★ Karambit | Doppler Phase 3 drops from the three Chroma cases, and the phase is random when a case is opened. The other route is a contract: five Covert skins from one collection become one rare special item, but you cannot choose the model or the phase. A particular phase of the karambit is bought as a ready-made listing.

Is there a StatTrak version

A StatTrak version of the ★ Karambit | Doppler Phase 3 exists in the game.

Who this wear suits

Buying the ★ Karambit | Doppler Phase 3 in Factory New is worth it for these reasons:

• you want a blue karambit, and Sapphire and the other gems are out of reach;

• your CS2 loadout is built on a blue-violet palette, and the ring on the handle repeats the color of the blade;

• an edge without marks matters to you, and Factory New covers the 0.00 to 0.07 band.
