The finish's float scale stretches from 0.01 to 0.26, with the lower bound cut off at 0.01, and Factory New occupies 0.01 to 0.07, about a quarter. The finish has one case, the Operation Breakout Weapon Case, and no other.

What the ★ StatTrak™ Butterfly Knife | Slaughter looks like in Factory New

The blade is flooded with red: dark diagonal stripes lie across the light metal, like those of a zebra. The handles are black, with a red inset along each, and the latch is red. Valve writes that the stripes are applied with aluminum and chrome paint of differing reflectivity, with a tomato-red lacquer on top.

In Factory New the metal is clean, and the stripes show under the lacquer without interference. Wear is fixed at the drop, and the StatTrak counter grows with kills and is never reset.

What to check before buying

StatTrak and Souvenir

The Slaughter butterfly knife also has a regular version without a counter. It is a separate item with its own page, and that is where you go if the kill count is not needed. There are no Souvenir knives. A StatTrak counter cannot be reset. The only official mechanic, the StatTrak Swap Tool, swaps the readings of two items of the same type, and each leaves with the other's number.
