The ★ StatTrak™ Flip Knife, "the flip" in the community, is a CS2 knife with a kill counter and no skin. The listing is marked "Not Painted". Covert rank, with the ★ mark. It has no wear tier, no float and no pattern, and the number on the counter is the only thing that changes from listing to listing.
What the ★ StatTrak™ Flip Knife looks like
The Flip Knife's blade curves upward: the spine runs smoothly to the point, and the belly is full near the edge. The top of the blade is light, the lower part darker, and near the heel the grind turns into teeth. A round mark sits on the blade next to the pivot; it is a detail of the model, not a skin.
The handle is matte olive green, with diagonal ribs on the scales and an oval slot near the blade. The color comes from the steel and the green scales. The counter does not change the picture.
How the plain ★ StatTrak™ Flip Knife differs from a skinned one
A listing with a counter is easier to assess than a skinned knife:
- there is no wear tier, and the listing carries no float band;
- there is no pattern: two Flip Knives cannot be told apart by artwork or shade;
- a name tag is accepted, stickers are not;
- one variable remains: the counter reading.
Everything else is the same from listing to listing.
What the ★ StatTrak™ Flip Knife costs
The ★ StatTrak™ Flip Knife costs almost the same as the normal version: the difference does not reach a percent. By starting price it costs more than eighteen of the model's skins and less than sixteen.
Right below it is Crimson Web (a percent cheaper), then Autotronic (1.08 times) and Lore (1.11 times). Above come Tiger Tooth (1.18 times as much), Marble Fade (1.42 times) and Slaughter (1.59 times). The Doppler and Gamma Doppler gems, Emerald, Ruby and Black Pearl, cost eight to nine times as much.
StatTrak and the normal version
The normal ★ Flip Knife is sold as a separate item. The counter tallies kills made with this knife, never resets, and moves to the buyer with the number it has reached. This model carries no premium for it: the two versions' prices match to within a percent.
Getting the ★ StatTrak™ Flip Knife
The Flip Knife drops from eleven cases of the older series, from the CS:GO Weapon Case and eSports 2013 Case to the Operation Bravo Case and Revolver Case. In every one it sits in the rare special item pool next to the skins and comes out at random.
The other route is a trade-up contract of five Covert skins from one collection, all with a counter. Neither the model nor the skin that comes out can be ordered.
Who it suits
Buying the ★ StatTrak™ Flip Knife on LIS-SKINS makes sense when:
- you want a "flip" with a curved blade and a kill counter, no skin;
- it matters that the counter costs no extra: the versions' prices match;
- you have no need for artwork on the blade, and eight times the price for Doppler gems is not justified.
