Description

The AK-47 | Asiimov in Battle-Scarred (BS) is the cheapest way to own this white-and-orange rifle. Float in this wear runs from 0.45 to 0.70. It ranks as Covert and sits in The Danger Zone Collection.

What the AK-47 | Asiimov looks like in Battle-Scarred

White carries the body, and the orange is gathered in a handful of spots. These are the gas tube and the front end of the handguard, the front sight and the top of the receiver. Stripes cross the black magazine, and the edge of the stock is orange too. The butt plate and the grip are dark. Black angular elements and fine technical markings lie over the white planes, and the stock carries an emblem.

In Battle-Scarred the white stops being white. The receiver and handguard planes turn gray with dirty streaks, and the edges are rubbed down to bare metal. Some orange stripes have gone altogether. The black inserts look almost as they do in clean grades, so the contrast survives thanks to the dark parts.

Where the AK-47 | Asiimov came from

Coridium drew the finish. He put the submission, titled AK47-ASIIMOV, on the Steam Workshop on December 15, 2013. In his description it is the sixth work in his Asiimov series and probably the weapon the community asked for most. He hoped the result would live up to expectations, and he thanked everyone who had commented on the earlier finishes.

The Danger Zone Collection was opened on December 6, 2018, and the AK-47 | Asiimov has belonged to it since launch. From submission to the game took exactly five years minus nine days. In Valve's catalog the artwork is numbered 801.

What to check before buying

Three points deserve a look on a Battle-Scarred listing:

  • the float: at 0.45 the white is a tinted gray, at 0.70 it is dark and dirty;

  • how much of the orange striping survives on the handguard and across the top of the receiver;

  • the name tag and stickers this AK-47 | Asiimov already carries.

There is no choosing by pattern on the AK-47 | Asiimov as such. The stretch from 0.45 to 0.70 is long, and copies at its ends look visibly different.

What the AK-47 | Asiimov costs in Battle-Scarred

The other wears, relative to this one:

  • Factory New costs about seven times as much;

  • Minimal Wear costs a third more;

  • Well-Worn costs about a sixth more;

  • Field-Tested costs a few percent more.

The finish's scale runs from 0.05 to 0.70, and Battle-Scarred is cut off at the top: instead of the usual 1.00, the band ends at 0.70. As a result it takes 38 percent of the scale, not the 55 percent it would on skins with the full range.

Among Covert AK skins in this wear, the finish is seventh from the bottom of twenty-three. Directly above stand AK-47 | Neon Rider and AK-47 | B the Monster, and below it AK-47 | Legion of Anubis, AK-47 | Inheritance and AK-47 | Aquamarine Revenge. AK-47 | Aphrodite is the cheapest of all. The top of the rank belongs to AK-47 | Wild Lotus, which costs more than a hundred times as much.

Getting the AK-47 | Asiimov

The AK-47 | Asiimov drops from the Danger Zone Case, and no other case carries the finish.

A trade-up of ten skins one step down from the same set also leads to it. The collection has three Classified skins and two Covert, the rifle and AWP | Neo-Noir, so the chance is one in two. The rifle works as an input too: five Covert skins of one type produce a Gold-rank item.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The AK-47 | Asiimov has a StatTrak version. No Souvenir packages were ever made for this finish, because packages only covered tournament map collections. A souvenir copy can still be built by hand: the Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a normal skin from the inventory. That is why the odd souvenir copy turns up where no package ever existed.

Stickers and craft on the AK-47 | Asiimov

On a worn skin no clean spot is left for a sticker, so the choice is made on contrast, not neatness. Dark stickers read against the grayed white, while orange ones merge into the stripes of the paint. For a craft in CS2 the stock and handguard are the freest areas, and the technical graphics on the receiver are better left uncovered.

Who this wear suits

The AK-47 | Asiimov in Battle-Scarred makes sense under these conditions:

  • you want the recognizable white-and-orange AK for CS2 without paying extra for cleanliness;

  • an inexpensive body for a sticker craft is the goal;

  • the look up close matters less than the model itself.

If noticeably cleaner paint is the aim, Field-Tested is the nearest step: it costs only a few percent more. This finish has one serious price jump, and it is the one to Factory New.
