The AK-47 | Asiimov in Factory New (FN) is untouched paint on the instantly recognizable white-and-orange rifle. The float in this wear lies between 0.05 and 0.07. The rank is Covert, and the finish drops from the Danger Zone Case.

What the AK-47 | Asiimov looks like in Factory New

White is the main color, laid down in broad flat planes. Orange paints the gas tube and front end of the handguard, the front sight, the top of the receiver and the angular inserts. The magazine is black with orange stripes. The butt plate and the grip are black, and the stock carries an emblem. Small marks and angular elements are scattered over the white, like those on a technical diagram.

In Factory New nothing interrupts the artwork. The white is clean, the orange rich without a single mark, and the edges of the black inserts are sharp. Telling such a copy from Minimal Wear takes a close inspection.

Where the AK-47 | Asiimov came from

Coridium made the finish, and the AK came sixth in his Asiimov series. The submission, AK47-ASIIMOV, appeared on the Steam Workshop on December 15, 2013.

The Danger Zone was released on December 6, 2018, and the skin entered the game together with the case. Valve's note of December 7 is titled "Welcome to the Danger Zone" and describes the case as a set of seventeen finishes drawn by the community. In Valve's catalog the finish carries number 801.

What to check before buying

Picking a particular AK-47 | Asiimov comes down to these points:

• the float: it sits in a band of two hundredths, with no differences inside it;


• how clean the white is on the handguard and along the edge of the stock;


• the stickers and name tag already applied to this copy of the AK-47 | Asiimov.

The artwork repeats from one listing to the next without change. Across the 0.05 to 0.07 band the look of the rifle stays put.

Getting the AK-47 | Asiimov

The AK-47 | Asiimov lies in the Danger Zone Case, and no other case holds this finish.

A contract for it takes ten Classified skins from the same collection. The collection has two Covert skins, the second being AWP | Neo-Noir, so the outcome splits in half. The rifle also goes into a craft: five Covert skins of one type produce a Gold-rank item.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The AK-47 | Asiimov has a StatTrak version. No Souvenir packages were ever made for this finish, because packages only covered tournament map collections. A souvenir copy can still be built by hand: the Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a normal skin from the inventory. That is why the odd souvenir copy turns up where no package ever existed.

Stickers and craft on the AK-47 | Asiimov

On the clean body the white field shows a sticker without distortion. Black and dark blue read best, orange ones slip into the stripes of the paint, and white ones vanish. The stock and handguard are free, and in CS2 the receiver with its technical graphics is better left open.

Who this wear suits

The AK-47 | Asiimov in Factory New makes sense in three cases:

• a clean white AK with rich orange is the goal;


• predictability matters, as a band of two hundredths leaves no spread;


• the rifle goes into an inventory to be inspected, not only into CS2 matches.

If the price is a deterrent, Minimal Wear costs five times less, and its white has barely lost any evenness. The finish has one noticeable price jump, and it is right here.
