Description

Field-Tested (FT) is the second most common grade for the AK-47 | Asiimov, behind Battle-Scarred, and it claims over a third of the wear scale. The rank is Covert, and the rifle drops from the Danger Zone Case.

What the AK-47 | Asiimov looks like in Field-Tested

The body is white, the inserts black, and there is far more orange on it than a description suggests. Orange runs over the gas tube and the front sight, across the top of the receiver, along the magazine lip and onto the butt plate. White still takes the most room, covering the stock, the handguard and the side panels.

The science-fiction scheme is the one every Asiimov is known by. On the AK it is put together more harshly: broad white planes, narrow orange bands, black technical parts between them.

In Field-Tested the wear lands on the white of the receiver and the stock, where gray starts to show. The orange bands are narrow and rub down more visibly than anything else, while the black inserts look the way they do in clean grades.

Where the AK-47 | Asiimov came from

The finish was designed by Coridium, who publishes on the Steam Workshop. He posted the submission as AK47-ASIIMOV on December 15, 2013. In his notes he called it the sixth piece in his Asiimov series, and the AK the weapon the community asked for most.

It reached the game only on December 6, 2018, five years later, together with the Danger Zone Case. Valve shipped it in the update that made CS:GO free and added the mode of the same name. The catalog numbers the artwork 801.

What to check before buying

  • the float, as a white field shows wear sooner than a dark one and the band reads clearly;

  • the state of the orange bands, which are narrow and go first;

  • stickers and a name tag left behind by the previous owner.

The pattern on this finish is identical on every copy.

What the AK-47 | Asiimov costs in Field-Tested

Factory New asks about eight times as much, and the reason has nothing to do with looks. The scale begins at 0.05, which leaves Factory New a strip of 0.05 to 0.07, three percent of the whole range. The rest sit close to Field-Tested: Minimal Wear is dearer by a quarter, Well-Worn by a tenth, and Battle-Scarred cheaper by about as much.

Among Covert AK finishes this grade stands sixth from the bottom of twenty-four. Aquamarine Revenge and Neon Rider are right alongside, within a tenth of the price. Inheritance and Legion of Anubis come in cheaper by a sixth and a fifth.

Getting the AK-47 | Asiimov

Two ways in: open the Danger Zone Case, or run a contract on ten Classified skins from that same set. The set holds two Covert finishes, so a contract guarantees nothing.

StatTrak and Souvenir

Stickers and craft on the AK-47 | Asiimov

The AK-47 | Asiimov has a StatTrak version. No Souvenir packages were ever made for this finish, because packages only ever covered tournament map collections. A souvenir copy can still be built by hand. The Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a normal skin from the inventory. That is why the odd souvenir copy turns up where no package was ever made.

A white field is a bright and demanding background. Black and dark blue stickers read best on it, orange merges into the bands, and white disappears outright. The stock and the handguard are free for a craft, while the receiver with its technical graphics is best left bare in CS2.

Who this wear suits

Field-Tested is the right pick here if:

  • a recognizable white AK is wanted for CS2;

  • paying eight times over for Factory New makes no sense, that premium coming from a rare strip of float rather than the look;

  • choosing by float inside a single grade matters.

Light finishes share one drawback: every scuff shows on white, and near the top of the band the body grays noticeably. An even white starts closer to 0.15.
