The base is black, and over it runs a pale ornament of swirls that recalls tribal body paint. Bright turquoise lines trace the handguard, the front sight and the magazine, and on the receiver they join into a solid design. Valve calls the palette arctic.

In Battle-Scarred the black ground makes wear obvious. The pale ornament and the turquoise lines lose their crispness first, and rubbed edges show bare metal. Search for an AK-47 | Frontside Misty by the number rather than by the wear label, because the band from 0.45 to 0.87 is wide.

The finish was made in-house at Valve, and no Steam Workshop submission stands behind it. The AK-47 | Frontside Misty appeared on September 17, 2015, when the Shadow Collection was added to the game. Valve's catalog numbers it 490.

What to check before buying

Before you buy an AK-47 | Frontside Misty, check the following:

• float: at 0.45 the turquoise lines are still bright, and by 0.87 they have noticeably dulled;


• the edges of the handguard and receiver, where the paint rubs off;


• stickers and a name tag that a previous owner left on this AK-47 | Frontside Misty.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The AK-47 | Frontside Misty has a StatTrak version. No Souvenir packages were ever issued for this finish, since those were made only for the tournament map collections. A souvenir copy can still be assembled by hand, though: the Souvenir-O-Matic applies gold tournament stickers and a player autograph to an ordinary skin from your inventory. That is why the occasional souvenir copy turns up even where no packages ever existed.

On the black handguard and stock any pale sticker reads. Turquoise stickers echo the lines of the artwork, while red and yellow ones add a bright spot on a cold ground. The ornament lies across the whole body, so for a CS2 craft you pick large graphics on the solid dark areas, because small ones get lost in the swirls.

Who this wear suits

Battle-Scarred is worth buying for the AK-47 | Frontside Misty for these reasons:

• you want a cold rifle for CS2 without paying extra for a clean body;


• price matters more than a factory look, since Factory New costs six and a half times as much;
