The AK-47 | Fuel Injector in Field-Tested is a glossy orange rifle. At this wear the edges of its panels give way, along with the fine print on the gas tube. Copies of the AK-47 | Fuel Injector in this wear run from 0.15 to 0.38. It is Covert rank and drops from the Operation Wildfire Case.

What the AK-47 | Fuel Injector looks like in Field-Tested

The finish is styled after a car: a saturated orange-amber gloss on the receiver, forend, pistol grip and front of the magazine. The stock and the magazine itself are left nearly black, with a tire-tread pattern pressed into the magazine. The gas tube and the top of the barrel are pale gray-blue metal, marked with small white lettering and numbers. On the side of the receiver, over the orange, sits a large red and white graphic in several lines that looks like a racing logo.

In Field-Tested (FT), the raised edges of the orange receiver and forend panels give way first: the gloss there turns pale and dull. The fine white print on the gas tube is almost unreadable toward the top of the band, because it sits on a narrow, rounded part. The flat sides and the large graphic on them last longest, so from a distance the rifle looks intact.

Where the AK-47 | Fuel Injector came from

The finish was made by the Workshop artist emu, and the submission of November 15, 2015 was titled differently: "AK47 | Supercharged". The skin took its present name only at release. The Wildfire Collection was added to the game on February 17, 2016, together with the operation of the same name. That operation also brought a reworked Nuke and updated lighting, which Valve covered in a separate post. The finish's number in Valve's catalog is 524.

What to check before buying

Three things matter on the AK-47 | Fuel Injector:

• the float: it shows how far the edges of the orange panels are rubbed;


• the state of the fine white print on the gas tube;


• a name tag and whatever stickers the rifle already carries.

The design is fixed and does not vary between copies. The spread from 0.15 to 0.38 is one you can see with the naked eye, so choose the listing by its number.

What the AK-47 | Fuel Injector costs in Field-Tested

The skin has a full scale from 0.00 to 1.00, and the wears are priced far apart. Factory New costs about two and a half times as much, Minimal Wear a quarter more. Downward the difference is just as visible: Well-Worn is about a quarter cheaper, and Battle-Scarred one and a half times cheaper.

Among Covert AK-47 skins the AK-47 | Fuel Injector sits in the upper third: fifteen finishes cost less, eight cost more. Bloodsport and Neon Revolution sit slightly below it. Fire Serpent, Gold Arabesque and Wild Lotus cost several times more.

Getting the AK-47 | Fuel Injector

The finish drops straight from the Operation Wildfire Case, and that is the main route. The alternative to buying is a trade-up: ten skins of the next rank down from the same set make an AK-47 | Fuel Injector. The Classified finishes of the collection are the AWP | Elite Build, the Desert Eagle | Kumicho Dragon and the Nova | Hyper Beast. The set has two Covert items, so the chance of landing the rifle is one in two.

Beyond that, the rank leads to a knife craft, and the choice is narrow: the rare special item of Wildfire is a single model, the Bowie Knife.

StatTrak and Souvenir

Stickers and craft on the AK-47 | Fuel Injector

The AK-47 | Fuel Injector has a StatTrak version. Souvenir copies of the finish turn up as well, though no Souvenir packages were ever made for it: packages only ever covered tournament map collections. Those copies are built with the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a normal skin from the inventory.

The orange gloss invites a racing theme, and car stickers sit on it as if they belonged. White and black ones read well, while red ones merge with the graphic on the side. The stock and magazine are free, but they are dark, and a bright sticker there looks separate from the finish.

Who this wear suits

This wear makes sense for the AK-47 | Fuel Injector in these cases:

• you want a bright rifle for CS2 to play with, not a showcase piece;


• you would rather not pay two and a half times as much for Factory New;


• you are willing to hunt for a float closer to 0.15.

In CS2 the orange flats can be seen from any distance, while rubbed edges show only up close. So in Field-Tested the finish loses less than the float numbers suggest.
