AK-47 | Head Shot (Minimal Wear)

AK-47 | Head Shot in Minimal Wear (MW): a pastel Covert AK-47 on which scuffing is only starting to show. The skin is for the Terrorist side and drops from the Revolution Case. In this wear its float stays within 0.07 to 0.15.

What the AK-47 | Head Shot looks like in Minimal Wear

The artwork is built from layers of graffiti: a light, whitish base with pink, lime, turquoise and yellow strokes over it, drips running off them. The gas tube and magazine are painted in the same lime and turquoise tones. The barrel is dark and falls out of the general palette.

The skin has no readable figures, but plenty of small detail: splatters and scraps of lettering along the whole length. Large blotches lie on the side of the receiver, small ones on the stock. Valve's description lists a pearlescent coating over the graffiti.

In Minimal Wear the trace of wear is barely noticeable: the edges of the receiver and the corners of the stock go slightly gray. A motley base hides such scuffing better than a solid color does.

Where the AK-47 | Head Shot came from

The finish comes from SerQ. Publishing the Workshop submission, he wrote that he hoped for Valve's attention: the series had been redone from scratch and took several months. By the author's account, he released the wild style graffiti in several variants.

In the game the Revolution Collection opened on February 9, 2023, and the skin was in it from day one. In a note dated February 10, Valve cites seventeen finishes by community authors; the rare items in the case are the gloves from the Clutch Case.

What to check before buying

Three points go into the checklist for the AK-47 | Head Shot:

• float: in this wear the AK-47 | Head Shot fits within 0.07 to 0.15, so listings look alike;

• the edges of the receiver and the corners of the stock, where the first gray film appears;

• the name tag and stickers this AK-47 | Head Shot already carries.

Choosing an AK-47 | Head Shot by pattern is not possible: it is the same on every listing.

What the AK-47 | Head Shot costs in Minimal Wear

The other wears, set against Minimal Wear:

• Factory New is about 1.8 times dearer;

• Field-Tested sits about one and a half times below;

• Well-Worn likewise sits some one and a half times lower;

• Battle-Scarred is about 1.8 times cheaper.

The steps are even: about 1.8 times builds up in both directions, up to Factory New and down to Battle-Scarred.

Among Covert AK-47s in this wear, the skin is third from the bottom of twenty-four; AK-47 | Aphrodite and AK-47 | Legion of Anubis are cheaper. Slightly above, by a small margin, sit AK-47 | Inheritance, AK-47 | Asiimov and AK-47 | Aquamarine Revenge, while AK-47 | Nightwish is one and a half times dearer. AK-47 | Fire Serpent is dearer by more than twenty times, and AK-47 | Gold Arabesque by more than thirty.

Getting the AK-47 | Head Shot

The skin has one case, the Revolution Case, and no other case holds this artwork. A trade-up contract also hands out the AK-47 | Head Shot: ten skins from the rank below, all from the same collection. The collection has two Covert finishes, so the odds are one in two.

StatTrak and Souvenir

StatTrak exists for the AK-47 | Head Shot. Souvenir packages were never made for this finish; they were reserved for tournament map collections. A souvenir copy can still be built by hand: Souvenir-O-Matic adds gold tournament stickers and a player autograph to an ordinary skin from the inventory. That is why a single souvenir copy turns up now and then even where no packages ever existed.

Stickers and craft on the AK-47 | Head Shot

The base is motley and light, so dark stickers and holograms show well, while pink and lime stickers merge with the blotches. In a CS2 craft it is easier to put them on straight sections: the underside of the handguard and the flat of the magazine.

Who this wear suits

Buying this wear of the AK-47 | Head Shot is reasonable if:

• you want a Covert AK-47 on which scuffing is almost invisible;

• Factory New costs three quarters more, and the eye can barely tell the difference;

• the rifle is going into CS2 matches, where price counts for more than the shine of the edges.

If you need the shine in full, the nearest step up is Factory New. Going down to Field-Tested, the skin gets cheaper by about one and a half times.
