AK-47 | Ice Coaled (Battle-Scarred)

Battle-Scarred (BS) is built unusually on the AK-47 | Ice Coaled: the finish's own scale stops at 0.77, and no copy goes above that number. The float band is 0.45 to 0.77. That is more than two fifths of the finish's entire scale and the roomiest band of the five. It is a Classified skin, sourced from the Recoil Case.

What the AK-47 | Ice Coaled looks like in Battle-Scarred

This AK has only a few colored parts. The top of the handguard is covered by a bright green plate with dark speckling. The dust cover and side of the receiver run from turquoise to cyan and on to blue. The stock is painted a pale gray-green, with a black oval on it. The magazine is black, with turquoise markings and a window showing brass cartridges. The barrel, the underside of the handguard and the grip stay black and gray.

In this wear the ribs of the green plate take the worst of it: the green comes off there in patches, down to metal. Next the edges of the dust cover lighten, where the gradient breaks off. The white marks last longer because they lie on flat surfaces. These are "AK" on the side and the stock, "09" on the lower handguard, and the dart arrow at the rear edge of the receiver. Black parts hide wear, so on this AK scuffing is read from the green.

Truly ruined copies of the finish do not exist because of that ceiling. Even the worst copy does not reach the look that Battle-Scarred gives on an ordinary scale.

Where the AK-47 | Ice Coaled came from

The Steam Workshop author with the handle REINCARNATION drew the finish. He titled the submission "AK47 ICE COALED" and uploaded it on June 28, 2022. The Recoil Collection dates from July 1, 2022. In its note Valve described the case as a set of seventeen community works. Valve's catalog numbers the finish 1143.

What to check before buying

What sets one AK-47 | Ice Coaled listing apart from another comes down to this:

• the float within 0.45 to 0.77, which shows first on the green plate;


• how much green is left on the ribs of the plate, and whether the white marks are intact;


• what the previous owner left on the AK-47 | Ice Coaled: stickers and an applied name.

The AK-47 | Ice Coaled has no pattern variants, so there is nothing to select on. Listings between 0.45 and 0.77 still differ noticeably in appearance.

What the AK-47 | Ice Coaled costs in Battle-Scarred

The steps upward are large: Factory New asks about three and a half times as much, Minimal Wear twice as much, and Well-Worn about a fifth more.

Field-Tested, on the other hand, costs level with this wear. The gap between them is negligible and rests on a couple of listings. The surcharge for a cleaner look is nil.

Of fifteen Classified AK-47 finishes, this one is cheapest in Battle-Scarred. The nearest neighbor above is the AK-47 | Searing Rage, followed by the Nouveau Rouge. At the other end of the rank stands the Hydroponic, more than two hundred times as much.

Getting the AK-47 | Ice Coaled

The finish has a single case, the Recoil Case, and it was never put in any other.

For a contract to produce the AK-47 | Ice Coaled you put in ten skins one rank down from one collection. The Recoil Collection has three Classified finishes, and what comes out is random.

StatTrak and Souvenir

Stickers and craft on the AK-47 | Ice Coaled

The AK-47 | Ice Coaled has a StatTrak version. Souvenir copies of the finish turn up as well, though no Souvenir packages were ever made for it: packages only ever covered tournament map collections. Those copies are built with the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a normal skin from the inventory.

There is plenty of black metal on the body, and wear does not touch it: paint comes off only the painted areas. The underside of the handguard and the grip suit a craft best. Light and silvery stickers read on black, while warm oranges fight the turquoise on the receiver. The worn green plate is no place for a sticker, since the paint there is already ragged.

Who this wear suits

Battle-Scarred on the AK-47 | Ice Coaled is worth buying when:

• you want a Classified AK at the minimum: no wear of this finish is cheaper;


• scuffed green does not bother you, but you do want the gradient on the receiver;


• the AK is going into CS2 matches rather than onto a shelf.

At 0.45 the plate still holds its color, and at 0.77 almost all the green on the ribs has gone, so check the number before you buy.
