Field-Tested (FT) sits between the clean top of the AK-47 | Ice Coaled scale and its battered bottom. No Classified AK-47 in this wear asks less, and only Battle-Scarred copies of the same finish come in a few cents under it. The band runs from 0.15 to 0.38. The rank is Classified, and the rifle drops from the Recoil Case.
What the AK-47 | Ice Coaled looks like in Field-Tested
There is neither ice nor coal in the paint. This is a black rifle with a handful of parts covered and the rest left bare. The upper handguard plate is acid green with dark speckles. The dust cover and the receiver side carry a gradient running turquoise through cyan into blue. The stock is pale gray-green with a black oval on it. The magazine is black, crossed by turquoise lines, with brass rounds showing in the window.
Every mark sits on those painted panels. A white AK appears on the receiver side and again on the stock. Lower down there is a white 09 on the handguard and a white dart arrow at the rear of the receiver. Barrel, lower handguard, grip and trigger stay black and gray. Valve keeps its own text short, promising a bright green-to-blue transition under the line "Cold to the touch".
In Field-Tested the raised ribs of the green plate go first, together with the dust cover edges where the gradient breaks off. The white markings lie on flat surfaces and hold on longer. Black parts hide wear, so a copy is read mostly by its green plate.
Where the AK-47 | Ice Coaled came from
The finish is Workshop work by an artist posting as REINCARNATION, who published the submission AK47 ICE COALED on June 28, 2022. The Recoil Collection went into the game on July 1, 2022. Valve's update note presented the case as seventeen pieces by community artists, with the Broken Fang gloves as its rare item. The finish is number 1143 in Valve's catalog.
What to check before buying
From one AK-47 | Ice Coaled listing to the next, this is what moves:
- float, which the green plate gives away before anything else;
- stickers left behind by the previous owner, and a name tag on the AK-47 | Ice Coaled;
- whether the lot is a plain copy, a StatTrak one or a Souvenir.
The layout is fixed: the gradient is printed whole, and the pattern index changes nothing you can see. Across 0.15 to 0.38, though, copies do look noticeably different from one another.
What the AK-47 | Ice Coaled costs in Field-Tested
Against the neighboring wears the ratios run like this:
- Factory New runs about three times this wear;
- Minimal Wear more than half again;
- Well-Worn costs a few percent more, although it looks worse;
- Battle-Scarred comes in about a tenth below.
Band length explains that: Well-Worn covers only 0.38 to 0.45, three times less of the scale than Field-Tested.
In this wear the rifle is the cheapest of fifteen Classified AK-47 finishes. Searing Rage stands right above it, then Phantom Disruptor and The Outsiders, while Jet Set and Hydroponic hold the top. Hydroponic is ahead by a factor in the hundreds.
Getting the AK-47 | Ice Coaled
The first source is the Recoil Case; no other case ever carried this finish. The second is a contract of ten skins one rank below from the same collection. P90 | Vent Rush, M249 | Downtown and R8 Revolver | Crazy 8 all work as inputs. The set holds three Classified finishes, so which one comes out is luck.
StatTrak and Souvenir
Stickers and craft on the AK-47 | Ice Coaled
The AK-47 | Ice Coaled has a StatTrak version. Souvenir copies of the finish turn up as well, though no Souvenir packages were ever made for it: packages only ever covered tournament map collections. Those copies are built with the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a normal skin from the inventory.
There is little paint here and a lot of bare black metal: the lower handguard, the grip, most of the magazine. That is where CS2 players put stickers, leaving the receiver gradient alone. White and silver read best on black, while warm oranges and reds argue with the cold palette.
Who this wear suits
Field-Tested is the right pick on the AK-47 | Ice Coaled when:
- a bright AK-47 for CS2 is wanted at the floor of the Classified rank;
- float headroom matters, since there is a real choice inside the band;
- the green-and-blue plate counts for more than untouched edges.
Toward the top of the band the green plate goes dull and its contrast with the black body weakens. For an even look, stay in the lower half.
