Minimal Wear (MW) is the AK-47 | Jaguar wear that sits right on the border between two price steps. Factory New costs more than three times as much, while Minimal Wear costs only 1.35 to 1.4 times as much as each of the three lower wears. It is a Covert rifle that drops from the eSports 2014 Summer Case, and in CS2 it plays for the Terrorists.
What the AK-47 | Jaguar looks like in Minimal Wear
Swamp-green tiger-stripe camouflage runs over the handguard, the sides of the receiver, the grip and the magazine. The receiver cover is a near-black olive, and a sandy green outline of a cat crosses it with the head up by the front sight. Ginger wood remains on the stock and lower guard, and bare dark metal makes up the barrel and gas tube. The small red detail near the front of the receiver is the figure's eye.
In Minimal Wear the wear has only just begun. It touches the green edges of the handguard first, then the ribs of the magazine and the corners of the receiver sides. The cat outline is built from thin pale lines and suffers first at the folds of the cover, but in this band the damage is still light. The float is set when the skin drops, so a given copy will never look different from the way it does now.
Where the AK-47 | Jaguar came from
Nobody submitted the AK-47 | Jaguar to the Steam Workshop; the finish was drawn inside Valve. The eSports 2014 Summer Collection, which holds this skin, came out on July 10, 2014, and the Jaguar arrived in the same update. Its number in the Valve catalog is 316.
What to check before buying
Three things are worth checking on a Jaguar listing:
- the float: the band runs from 0.07 to 0.15, which is 8% of the skin's scale, and inside it there is no best copy to hunt for;
- any name tag and stickers the previous owner left on the listing;
- pale edges on the handguard and magazine, which show how far the wear has gone.
The artwork is the same on every copy, so the pattern index decides nothing here.
What the AK-47 | Jaguar costs in Minimal Wear
Factory New costs more than three times as much, and that is the biggest step on the whole ladder. Going down, the price moves in small increments: Minimal Wear costs 1.35 times as much as Field-Tested or Well-Worn and 1.4 times as much as Battle-Scarred.
Of the twenty-four Covert AK-47 skins with a price in Minimal Wear, eleven cost less than the Jaguar and twelve cost more, which puts it mid-rank. AK-47 | B the Monster and AK-47 | Bloodsport sit a little above it, and AK-47 | Neon Revolution sits level with it. AK-47 | The Empress and AK-47 | The Oligarch come in lower. The cheapest in the row is AK-47 | Aphrodite, and the top belongs to AK-47 | Fire Serpent, AK-47 | Gold Arabesque and AK-47 | Wild Lotus.
Getting the AK-47 | Jaguar
It drops from the eSports 2014 Summer Case. A trade-up into the AK-47 | Jaguar takes ten skins of the rank below from that same collection. The collection holds two Covert skins, so the rifle is one outcome out of two.
StatTrak and Souvenir
The AK-47 | Jaguar has a StatTrak version. Souvenir copies exist too, although no Souvenir packages were ever issued for this finish: those were made only for tournament map collections. Such copies are built through the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from the inventory.
Stickers and craft on the AK-47 | Jaguar
The background is busy and dark, so small stickers get lost on the camouflage, while large pale ones stay readable. The magazine and handguard suit a craft. The receiver cover with the cat outline is better left bare, because the whole design rests on it.
Who this wear suits
The AK-47 | Jaguar in Minimal Wear makes sense in these situations:
- you want an AK-47 for CS2 with almost untouched camouflage, but without the factory price;
- you want the cat outline to read in full across the receiver cover;
- you are saving up for Factory New and meanwhile want the step just below it.
