AK-47 | Midnight Laminate in Minimal Wear (MW) runs from 0.07 to 0.15, which is 11 percent of the finish's scale. It costs almost half as much as Factory New and a little over twice as much as Field-Tested. The rank is Restricted, the collection is The Ascent Collection, and no case holds this rifle.
What the AK-47 | Midnight Laminate looks like in Minimal Wear
The rifle carries two colors, divided by material. The handguard, stock, grip and magazine are dark purple with cherry streaks of layers, like glued plywood. Blue-teal covers the receiver, top cover and gas tube. The border between the colors follows the seams between parts exactly. There is no applied artwork, only layered texture: on the stock the streaks form rings, and on the receiver a light grain shows.
In Minimal Wear the corners of the stock and the edge of the handguard lighten, and the purple turns pinkish gray there. The remaining parts look tidy. Wear is fixed at drop and does not grow with time.
Where the AK-47 | Midnight Laminate came from
The Steam Workshop has nothing to do with this finish, which Valve drew itself. The update of March 31, 2025 opened The Ascent Collection, and the skin appeared in it right away. Valve's note that day says three new collections were added to the weekly reward list: Ascent, Boreal and Radiant. In Valve's catalog the finish is number 1218.
What to check before buying
When choosing a listing, this is what counts:
- float: 0.07 to 0.15 is a short stretch, and the difference between listings falls within the margin of error;
- name tag and stickers, both of which stay on the listing;
- pattern: it repeats from listing to listing unchanged.
What the AK-47 | Midnight Laminate costs in Minimal Wear
Factory New costs 1.95 times as much as Minimal Wear. Field-Tested is cheaper by 2.55 times, Well-Worn by 2.18 and Battle-Scarred by 3.08. Minimal Wear sits in the middle between the top wear and the lower ones.
Among the nine Restricted AK-47 finishes priced in this wear, it sits in the middle: four are cheaper, four dearer. Slate costs six percent more, Rat Rod ten percent less, Breakthrough and Safety Net about a third less, Emerald Pinstripe almost half. Blue Laminate costs twice as much, Orbit Mk01 four and a half times, First Class an order of magnitude more.
Getting the AK-47 | Midnight Laminate
Cases do not hold this rifle. A weekly reward is handed out for time played, and The Ascent Collection is among its collections. Trade-up works as well. Ten skins of the rank below are put together from any collections, and the result comes from the collection of one of the inputs. Taking all ten from The Ascent Collection is the player's choice, and it steers the result.
StatTrak and Souvenir
The AK-47 | Midnight Laminate has neither a StatTrak version nor Souvenir packages.
Stickers and craft on the AK-47 | Midnight Laminate
The look is calm: layers of wood and plain metal. For a CS2 sticker setup that is a handy base, since stickers show clearly on it. Gold and red ones stand out on the purple and blue, and cool ones pick up the teal of the receiver.
Who this wear suits
This wear of the AK-47 | Midnight Laminate makes sense if:
- you want a CS2 rifle with purple wood and teal metal, where wear shows only on the corners of the stock and handguard;
- it matters that listings barely differ across 0.07 to 0.15;
- Factory New is almost twice the price, while Field-Tested shows more wear.
