AK-47 | Neon Revolution (Field-Tested)

The AK-47 | Neon Revolution in Field-Tested (FT) is the middle wear of the five. Copies come with floats from 0.15 to 0.38. It is a Covert rank skin that drops from the Gamma 2 Case and can be equipped only on the Terrorist side.

What the AK-47 | Neon Revolution looks like in Field-Tested

Acid-pink paint is poured over a standard AK and runs down it in drips. Through the drips you can see everything the base model had: a wooden handguard, a brown stock, the black metal of the receiver. ANARCHY is written by hand in green on the top cover, and the letters run downward too.

Green repeats in three more places: stenciled numbers on the gas tube, a glow along the bottom of the magazine and the edge of the stock. The front sight and the muzzle are wrapped in pink stripes. Small graphics are scattered across the pink, which Valve calls a mix of hydrographic decals.

In FT the drips are rubbed off on the edges of the cover, the corners of the magazine and along the top of the handguard. There the pink is taken down to wood and black metal. The ANARCHY lettering lies on a flat plane and stays intact. Look for a copy by its number, not by the wear label, because the band from 0.15 to 0.38 is wide.

Where the AK-47 | Neon Revolution came from

The finish's author is Coridium, a Steam Workshop artist and the creator of the whole Asiimov series. He posted the submission on March 16, 2015, under the title “AK47 - ANARCHY”, which is where the lettering on the cover comes from.

The submission description explains two things. First, the work was commissioned by the agency One Game Agency for the promo of the CounterPit League Season One tournament, which was being prepared for spring 2015. Second, he applied the paint over the factory finish without touching the base, so highlights behave differently on painted and bare areas.

Coridium described the style as punk and named his reference points: Sex Pistols, The Prodigy and Pendulum. The finish reached the game about a year and a half after the submission, and Valve's catalog numbers it 600. The Gamma 2 Collection came out on August 18, 2016.

What to check before buying

Before buying, check a few things:

• float: closer to the upper boundary the pink edges are rubbed down more, and more wood shows;


• the state of the ANARCHY lettering and of the green glow along the bottom of the magazine;


• any name tag or stickers that already sit on the rifle.

Pattern gives you no choice here: it is the same on every listing.

What the AK-47 | Neon Revolution costs in Field-Tested

The other wears relative to this one:

• Factory New costs about two and a quarter times as much;


• Minimal Wear costs a few percent more;


• Well-Worn is almost level;


• Battle-Scarred is cheaper by about a twentieth.

The four lower wears cost nearly the same, and the only real gap lies between them and Factory New. That is where the money goes, for drips left whole along the edges.

Among Covert AKs in this wear, the skin ranks fourteenth from the cheapest end of twenty-four. Its neighbors are close: AK-47 | The Empress is a little cheaper and AK-47 | Bloodsport a little pricier.

Getting the AK-47 | Neon Revolution

The first route is the Gamma 2 Case, and no other case carries this finish. To get the skin by trade-up, you hand in ten skins one rank lower from the same collection.

The set has two Covert skins, so a trade-up returns one of the two.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The AK-47 | Neon Revolution comes in a StatTrak version. No Souvenir packages were ever released for this finish, since those existed only for tournament map collections. You can still make a Souvenir copy yourself: the Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from your inventory. That is why a few Souvenir copies turn up now and then, even where no packages ever existed.

Stickers and craft on the AK-47 | Neon Revolution

The background is loud, and quiet stickers vanish on it. Black-and-white ones work, and so do ones just as acid-bright, except pink and green. There is plenty of room for a CS2 craft: the handguard and magazine are free, and the cover with the lettering is usually left open.

Who this wear suits

Field-Tested on the AK-47 | Neon Revolution is worth buying when:

• you want a bright AK for CS2 without paying double or more for Factory New;


• there is no reason to go lower, since the three remaining wears cost about the same;


• choosing by number matters to you, because on the band from 0.15 to 0.38 listings look different.

The closer the float is to the lower boundary, the less wood shows through the pink.
