AK-47 | Neon Rider (Battle-Scarred)

Battle-Scarred (BS) is the cheapest of the five wears of the AK-47 | Neon Rider, and also the longest by float. This Covert rifle drops from the Horizon Case, and in CS2 it is a Terrorist weapon. The skin's scale is cut off at the top: the maximum here is 0.80, not 1.00, so Battle-Scarred runs into the ceiling sooner than it does on most AK-47 skins.

What the AK-47 | Neon Rider looks like in Battle-Scarred

The base of the skin is a deep purple. The handguard, stock and muzzle area carry a turquoise halftone of small dark dots, while the barrel and magazine are pink. A helmeted biker stands on the receiver with a turquoise pulse line drawn beside him, and the magazine says NEON in large letters.

Valve's description calls it a mix of neon patterns and adds a joke: "two parts Trapper Keeper, three parts synthesizer." In Battle-Scarred the wear is deep. The neon goes dark in the scuffed spots. The band stretches from 0.45 to 0.80, so two listings with the same wear name can look quite different.

Where the AK-47 | Neon Rider came from

The designer credited for the finish is Puffin. The Steam Workshop submission is titled "AK-47 | Neon Rider IV (Director's Cut)", its author is Shin Rigman, and it was submitted on May 9, 2018. It is the fourth version of the artwork, reworked after community feedback. Among the changes the author lists a closed helmet, as on the classic Neon Rider, which makes the figure easier to read.

The Horizon Collection was released on August 1, 2018, and the AK-47 | Neon Rider has been in the set since launch. The finish's number in Valve's catalog is 707.

What to check before buying

When choosing an AK-47 | Neon Rider, pay attention to the following:

• float: the bounds for this skin in this wear are 0.45 and 0.80, which is 44% of the skin's scale, and between them the scuffing builds up noticeably;


• whatever stickers and name tag this copy already carries;


• the biker figure and the pulse line on the receiver, which on a worn copy are sometimes intact and sometimes rubbed out.

Artwork offers no choice on the AK-47 | Neon Rider at all: every copy carries the same one.

Each of the other wears costs more than Battle-Scarred:

Among the twenty-three Covert AK-47 skins with a price in this wear, seven cost less than the Neon Rider and fifteen cost more. The nearest above is the AK-47 | B the Monster; the nearest below is the AK-47 | Asiimov, about five percent cheaper. The AK-47 | Legion of Anubis and the AK-47 | Inheritance fall a quarter or more below. The bottom of the rank is the AK-47 | Aphrodite, and the top is the AK-47 | Wild Lotus.

Getting the AK-47 | Neon Rider

The skin drops from the Horizon Case. The trade-up route takes ten Classified skins from this collection, and since the collection has two Covert skins, the result is one of two. Five Covert skins of this collection also go into a knife craft, which can return a Navaja Knife, Stiletto Knife, Talon Knife or Ursus Knife.

StatTrak and Souvenir

A StatTrak version of the AK-47 | Neon Rider exists in the game. No Souvenir packages were made for it, but you can build a Souvenir copy yourself through the Souvenir-O-Matic.

Stickers and craft on the AK-47 | Neon Rider

The purple background takes light stickers: white and yellow ones read clearly on it. Pink and turquoise ones blend into the artwork. At this wear the scuffing breaks up the color by itself, so stickers on the handguard and stock sit on a mottled base. The biker on the receiver is better left uncovered.
