AK-47 | VariCamo Grey in Field-Tested (FT) is a gray-green camouflage rifle and the cheapest of the skin's five wears. The band for this wear lies between 0.15 and 0.38, about a third of the finish's scale, while the skin itself exists from 0.00 to 0.67. It is Industrial Grade, from the Boreal Collection.
What the AK-47 | VariCamo Grey looks like in Field-Tested
The whole rifle is covered in mottled camouflage in a muted palette: dark gray, olive-gray and light patches follow one another with no large shapes. The pattern runs over the handguard, receiver, stock and grip, while the magazine gets pale lengthwise stripes. The front sight is olive and the barrel is dark. Valve's name for the design is a gray VariCamo camouflage.
In Field-Tested, wear already reads, but a mottled pattern hides it better than a solid color would: light spots on the edges merge into the camouflage patches. The band from 0.15 to 0.38 leaves some room to choose, and copies closer to 0.15 are cleaner.
Where the AK-47 | VariCamo Grey came from
The Boreal Collection appeared in the game on March 31, 2025. That day Valve added it to the weekly reward list.
What to check before buying
A few points are worth checking before you buy an AK-47 | VariCamo Grey:
- float: near 0.15 the edges are still almost even, and toward 0.38 the light spots are noticeably more numerous;
- the edges of the receiver, handguard and magazine, where paint comes off first;
- an applied name tag and stickers, which stay with the listing on the AK-47 | VariCamo Grey.
Nobody picks an AK-47 | VariCamo Grey by pattern: the design is shared by every copy, and copies differ only in wear.
What the AK-47 | VariCamo Grey costs in Field-Tested
Next to Field-Tested, the remaining wears price out as follows:
- Factory New is dearer by almost double;
- Minimal Wear is dearer by about a twentieth;
- Well-Worn is dearer by about a twentieth;
- Battle-Scarred is dearer by about a sixth.
Field-Tested is the cheapest of the five wears, but Minimal Wear and Well-Worn sit only a few percent above it. A noticeable difference appears only with Factory New.
Among the six Industrial Grade AK-47 skins, this one in this wear is fourth by price from the top. The AK-47 | Safari Mesh and Olive Polycam are cheaper by about a quarter. The AK-47 | Baroque Purple, AK-47 | Jungle Spray and AK-47 | Predator cost nineteen times as much or more.
Getting the AK-47 | VariCamo Grey
The AK-47 | VariCamo Grey has no case. Copies come from the weekly playtime reward, which includes the Boreal Collection.
A trade-up contract also yields it: ten skins of the rank below from this collection go in. The odds are one in nine, since the Boreal Collection holds nine Industrial Grade skins. The skin goes in as an input as well. Ten Industrial Grade skins from the collection return one Mil-Spec skin, such as USP-S | Tropical Breeze or AK-47 | Wintergreen.
StatTrak and Souvenir
There was no StatTrak version of the AK-47 | VariCamo Grey. Souvenir copies do exist, but no packages were made for this finish, since those were issued only for the tournament map collections. Such copies are built through the Souvenir-O-Matic, which applies gold tournament stickers and a player autograph to an ordinary skin from your inventory.
Stickers and craft on the AK-47 | VariCamo Grey
The pattern is mottled and dark, so a sticker with a crisp outline reads better than a pastel one. Red, yellow and white stickers stand out, while gray and olive ones vanish into the patches. The flattest areas for a CS2 craft are the stock and the side of the receiver.
Who this wear suits
Field-Tested is a sensible way to buy the AK-47 | VariCamo Grey if:
- you want a camouflage rifle for CS2 at the lowest price among the skin's wears;
- visible but not extreme wear suits you;
- a craft calls for a body from the Boreal Collection.
If the pattern has to stay almost untouched, look at Factory New, which costs almost twice as much.
