AK-47 | Vulcan (Battle-Scarred)

The AK-47 | Vulcan in Battle-Scarred (BS) is the most worn of this rifle's five versions, and the most affordable. The float assigned to this wear is 0.45 to 0.90. The finish tops out at 0.90, so the band is cut off at the top and takes exactly half of the skin's scale. Covert rank, The Huntsman Collection.

What the AK-47 | Vulcan looks like in Battle-Scarred

The finish is assembled from overlay plates. The top of the handguard and the side of the receiver are milky white, while the underside of the handguard, the grip and the stock are dark gray and black. Light blue sits in three inserts: on the magazine, on the side of the receiver and at the end of the stock. Valve describes the design as sporty.

In Battle-Scarred, wear spreads across the whole body. The white panels get dirty first, with more gray on the handguard, the receiver edge and the magazine. The light blue inserts fade next, while the dark parts barely change, so the contrast between the light and dark halves weakens.

Where the AK-47 | Vulcan came from

The finish is by jim´s. He posted the work "Vulcan: AK-47" to the Steam Workshop on December 13, 2013. There he noted that he had reworked the wear mask so that the seams between sections resist rubbing. The Huntsman Collection was released on May 1, 2014, and the skin has been in the set since the start. In Valve's catalog the finish is number 302.

What to check before buying

Three parameters go into the check of an AK-47 | Vulcan listing:

• float: the closer to 0.45, the more white remains on the panels;


• the handguard, the receiver edge and the magazine: gray shows there first;


• the name tag and stickers this AK-47 | Vulcan already carries.

There is no second artwork of the AK-47 | Vulcan. In this wear both 0.45 and 0.90 fit, and such listings look different.

What the AK-47 | Vulcan costs in Battle-Scarred

Set against Battle-Scarred, the other wears stand like this:

• Factory New is some five and a half times dearer;


• Minimal Wear is some three and a half times dearer;


• Field-Tested is almost twice as dear;


• Well-Worn is about two fifths dearer.

Factory New is the dearest, where the white panels are still clean. The finish's scale is cut off at 0.90, so Battle-Scarred remains a wide wear: copies from 0.45 up to the ceiling fall into it.

Getting the AK-47 | Vulcan

The only case with this finish is the Huntsman Weapon Case, where the skin drops.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The AK-47 | Vulcan has a StatTrak version. Souvenir packages for this finish were never released; only tournament map collections had them. But a souvenir copy can be made by hand: Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from your inventory. Single souvenir copies thus occasionally surface even where no packages ever existed.

Stickers and craft on the AK-47 | Vulcan

The finish has two backgrounds. On the white handguard, dark and red stickers read, and on the black stock and grip, light and bright ones. Light blue stickers dissolve in the inserts, so for a CS2 build they suit worse than the rest. The side of the magazine and the stock are free: that is exactly where the panels are largest.

Who this wear suits

Buying the AK-47 | Vulcan in Battle-Scarred makes sense on these terms:

• you want the Vulcan artwork in your inventory without paying extra for clean panels;


• the rifle is for playing CS2, not for display;


• you need an inexpensive body for a sticker craft.

If white must remain white, look at Minimal Wear: it costs three and a half times more.
