AWP | Containment Breach (Field-Tested)

The AWP | Containment Breach in Field-Tested (FT) sits in the middle of the scale. The acid-green runs are still whole across the flats, but they have already been knocked off the ribs. The float lies between 0.15 and 0.38. The rank is Covert, and the AWP drops from the Shattered Web Case.

What the AWP | Containment Breach looks like in Field-Tested

The base is a dark olive-gray, and bright lime runs and spatter pour down it from the top. The receiver, the stock and the grip are the parts they flood, heaviest on the pistol grip and the cheek of the stock. A lime ring lies around the scope objective, with green flecks on the turrets and the tube. The barrel, the muzzle brake, the bipod and the rail are left as bare dark metal, and the magazine is dark gray with green brush marks.

There is no motif repeating across the body: everything rests on the runs themselves. On the butt plate a green three-lobed shape stands out, close to a biohazard mark. On the grip sits pale yellow stenciled lettering that cannot be read.

The runs break off at the ribs. In Field-Tested the first to go are the receiver edges, the lip of the cheek, the butt plate and the lime ring on the rim of the objective. The large green patches on the flats of the stock and the grip hold on longer.

Where the AWP | Containment Breach came from

apel8 drew the finish and the work sits in the Steam Workshop. The submission went up on April 18, 2018 under the working title "AWP | Virus". The artist described the idea as the fourth piece in a dark pact series, with an irradiated forest and a horde of rats losing their minds to mutation behind it. The collection came out on November 19, 2019, and the finish is number 887 in Valve's catalog.

What to check before buying

Worth checking on an AWP | Containment Breach before paying:

• the float, because at the low end the ring around the objective is still closed and at the high end it is broken;


• the lip of the cheek and the butt plate, where the runs leave earliest;


• an applied name and stickers, which stay with the AWP | Containment Breach listing.

There is no lucky pattern to hunt on the AWP | Containment Breach, because the drawing never changes. The 0.15 to 0.38 band is wide: one grade label, quite different conditions under it.

What the AWP | Containment Breach costs in Field-Tested

Factory New costs about six times more and Minimal Wear nearly twice. That gap rests on the drawing itself: on clean copies the thin edges of the runs are intact, and an inspection shows it. Downward the steps are shorter, with Well-Worn cheaper by about a fifth and Battle-Scarred by nearly a third.

Among Covert AWPs this finish stands eighth of nineteen counting up. The AWP | LongDog runs alongside it, and the AWP | Queen's Gambit and the AWP | Printstream sit a little below. Above that the rank moves into another class of price: the AWP | Medusa, the AWP | Dragon Lore and the AWP | Gungnir cost tens of times more.

Getting the AWP | Containment Breach

The rifle drops from the Shattered Web Case, the only case that holds this finish.

The second route to an AWP | Containment Breach is a contract: ten skins one rank below from the same collection. The Shattered Web holds two Covert items, so the odds are one in two. The Covert rank also feeds the knife craft, and the Shattered Web yields the ★ Paracord Knife, the ★ Survival Knife, the ★ Nomad Knife and the ★ Skeleton Knife.

StatTrak and Souvenir

Stickers and craft on the AWP | Containment Breach

The AWP | Containment Breach has a StatTrak version. Souvenir copies of the finish turn up as well, though no Souvenir packages were ever made for it: packages only ever covered tournament map collections. Those copies are built with the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a normal skin from the inventory.

A dark base with green runs takes acid colors and smothers warm ones: a yellow or lime sticker settles into the drawing, while red falls out of the range. There is plenty of room on the rifle, with the stock and the side of the receiver below the runs both free. Where the paint is already knocked off, a sticker lands on bare metal.

Who this wear suits

Buying the AWP | Containment Breach in Field-Tested pays off when:

• a green AWP is wanted for CS2 without the sixfold premium for a Factory New copy;


• the runs matter on the flats rather than on the edges, and here they are whole;


• the rifle is headed into matches, where nobody studies the ribs of the receiver.

Closer to 0.38 the ring around the objective tears and the butt plate grays over. If the skin is being bought for inspection in CS2, the listing is picked from the lower half of the band by float.
