AWP | Duality (Battle-Scarred)

Battle-Scarred (BS) is the most worn of the five versions of the AWP | Duality, a crimson-painted AWP with light swirls. The rank is Classified, and the Revolution Case is the source. The skin's scale runs to 0.80, and BS takes up 44% of it. The skin comes in every wear.

What the AWP | Duality looks like in Battle-Scarred

The paint lies on the side of the receiver, around the magazine well and on the stock. The color is a dusty crimson with raspberry patches, pale gray-white swirls are scattered over it, and a round medallion with a dark ring stands on the side. The barrel, scope, bipod and magazine are bare dark metal with an olive-brown cast.

In its description Valve speaks of a red and a gold snake on each side. No scales or heads can be made out on the rifle itself, though: what reads is the medallion and the swirls. In Battle-Scarred the paint is knocked out the most, and the pale lines break up along the edges. In the submission the author wrote of an idea in which the golden artwork turns to iron under heavy wear.

Where the AWP | Duality came from

The AWP | Duality arrived on February 9, 2023, when the Revolution Collection was added to the game. In its release note Valve named seventeen finishes by community artists and the gloves from the Clutch Case as the rare item.

The finish's author is Madara. He posted the submission "AWP Duality (CS2 Updated)" on the Steam Workshop on August 21, 2021, and described two sides of one story: good and evil, day and night. Valve's catalog lists it under number 1222.

What to check before buying

Before paying for an AWP | Duality, it helps to check:

• the float: the stretch from 0.45 to 0.80 is the longest of the five, and listings near its two ends look different;


• stickers and a name tag left on the weapon by the previous owner.

The AWP | Duality is a fixed pattern, and price does not depend on pattern. The choosing happens inside 0.45 to 0.80, where the difference between the top and the bottom of the stretch is noticeable.

What the AWP | Duality costs in Battle-Scarred

Battle-Scarred is the lowest-priced wear of the skin. Field-Tested costs about an eighth more, Well-Worn a fifth more, Minimal Wear almost double, and Factory New about three and a quarter times as much.

Among Classified AWPs at this wear, the AWP | Duality is the cheapest. AWP | Green Energy costs a few percent more, AWP | Mortis a fifth more, and AWP | Ice Coaled two fifths more. AWP | The End and AWP | Elite Build cost more than three times as much. The top of the line belongs to AWP | Silk Tiger, nearly sixty times dearer.

Getting the AWP | Duality

The skin comes from the Revolution Case and has never appeared in any other case. The second route is a contract: ten skins of the rank below from the same collection. The collection has three Classified skins, so the chance of landing this AWP is one in three.

The skin itself also goes into a trade for a Covert one, and the Revolution Collection has two of those.

StatTrak and Souvenir

A StatTrak version of the AWP | Duality is available. Souvenir copies exist as well, but no Souvenir packages were released for the finish, since those were built only for tournament map collections. Souvenir-O-Matic produces such copies by putting gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a regular skin from the inventory.

Stickers and craft on the AWP | Duality

Crimson fill next to bare metal makes a contrasting base, so stickers are picked by color. Red and gold ones merge with the artwork, while white and light blue ones read. On a worn copy the scuffing lies along the edges, so for a sticker it is easier to take the center of the side or the stock.

Who this wear suits

The AWP | Duality in Battle-Scarred is a sensible buy if:

• you want the smallest outlay of all five wears;


• a scuffed look does not bother you, and untouched paint is not needed;


• picking by float matters: the band is the longest, and copies are cleaner closer to 0.45.

Field-Tested costs about an eighth more, and Factory New more than three times as much.
