AWP | Exoskeleton (Field-Tested)

The AWP | Exoskeleton in Field-Tested (FT) is the point on the scale where the scuffs are already there, but on the graphite base they are barely visible. The band for this wear is 0.15 to 0.38. It is Restricted rank, and the rifle is in the Operation Broken Fang Case.

What the AWP | Exoskeleton looks like in Field-Tested

The finish has no colored accents at all: the whole palette is gray-graphite with a cool bluish cast. The body is built from the bone plates of an exoskeleton. The relief covers the receiver, the handguard and the stock, and a ribbed sleeve like a spine runs along the barrel. Dark seams run between the plates, lighter gray segments show through in places, and the plates themselves have small holes. The scope and bipod are black, the magazine and grip are dark gray and plain. No lettering or numbers can be made out on the body.

The whole finish rests on relief rather than color, which is also why an AWP in Field-Tested looks almost the same as in the cleaner wears. The dark base hides scuffs: only the raised plate ribs on the receiver and the edge of the stock lighten. At the bottom of the band the relief is even all over, and at the top the ribs are lightened along the crest.

Where the AWP | Exoskeleton came from

The Operation Broken Fang collection was added to the game on December 3, 2020. In the skin catalog the rifle is number 975. The artwork was made by a Steam Workshop artist who goes by Rozzy.

In the launch note for the operation, Valve described not the case but the mode itself: new maps, Retakes, weekly missions and a stats page. The set with this rifle arrived together with the operation.

What to check before buying

When choosing an AWP | Exoskeleton, pay attention to the following:

• the float, which shows first on the crests of the plates on the receiver;

• the condition of the stock edge, which gives way together with the ribs;

• stickers on the rifle, plus a name tag if it has one.

All copies of the AWP | Exoskeleton carry the same pattern. Between 0.15 and 0.38 there is enough difference to make comparing a few listings worthwhile.

What the AWP | Exoskeleton costs in Field-Tested

Against the neighboring wears, it works out like this:

• Factory New: about eight times the price;

• Minimal Wear: about two and a half times the price;

• Well-Worn: about a fifth below;

• Battle-Scarred: about a quarter below.

The steps up are huge and the steps down are small: people pay a lot for clean relief, while one worn by field use barely differs in price. For a finish with no colored accents, that is to be expected.

Among Restricted AWPs in this wear, the AWP | Exoskeleton is eighth of ten in ascending order. Only AWP | POP AWP and AWP | Pink DDPAT stand above it. The nearest below are AWP | Atheris and AWP | Black Box, and the cheapest in the rank is AWP | Pit Viper.

Getting the AWP | Exoskeleton

The first source is the Operation Broken Fang Case; this finish was not put into other cases. A contract for the AWP | Exoskeleton takes ten skins one rank lower, all from the same collection. This rifle does not work as the cheapest way into such a trade-up.

StatTrak and Souvenir

The AWP | Exoskeleton has a StatTrak version. No Souvenir packages were ever released for this finish: they were made only for the map tournament collections. But you can build a Souvenir copy yourself: the Souvenir-O-Matic puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from your inventory. That is why a few Souvenir copies turn up now and then even where no packages ever existed.

Stickers and craft on the AWP | Exoskeleton

There is little flat space for a sticker: the relief covers almost the whole body, and a sticker lies across the plates with a crease. On the other hand, the gray-graphite base argues with no color. Bright and cool stickers both read on it, and white ones stand out more than the rest. In CS2 the flattest spot is found on the magazine.

Who this wear suits

Buying the AWP | Exoskeleton in Field-Tested makes sense if:

• you want a calm gray AWP for a CS2 set without paying extra for clean relief;

• it matters that wear barely reads on a dark base;

• you are ready to compare listings by float instead of taking the first one that comes up.

Below 0.20 the relief looks as it does in Minimal Wear, and at 0.38 the plate crests are already light. The price gap to the clean wears stays eightfold throughout.
