The AWP | Fever Dream in Field-Tested (FT): the finish's wear scale ends at 0.55, and this wear takes more than two-fifths of it, more than any other wear. It is ranked Classified and drops from the Spectrum Case. Both sides buy the AWP in CS2, and the finish suits a Counter-Terrorist buy and a Terrorist one equally.
What the AWP | Fever Dream looks like in Field-Tested
The base is dark, nearly black with an olive cast, and hand-drawn sketches are scattered over it: round skull faces, eyes, drips and lettering. The main color is acid pink, turquoise comes second, and there are touches of white and purple. A solid pink patch lies at the front edge of the receiver, and the same pink is picked up in a strip under the scope mount.
The drawings cover only the receiver, the stock and the cheek rest. The barrel and bipod are unpainted, so from a distance the AWP reads as dark, with all the graphics gathered in the rear half. Around the thumbhole cutout in the stock, the pink and turquoise strokes are densest.
In Field-Tested the receiver edges, the scope mount and the top of the stock rub through. A dark base hides this better than a light one, and the drawings sit on flat areas and stay readable. The float limits for this wear are 0.15 and 0.38.
Where the AWP | Fever Dream came from
The finish is by apel8, a Steam Workshop author. The submission went up on January 22, 2016 under the title "AWP | Fever Dream (Psychopath)"; the second half of the name never reached the game. The author fit the whole description of the work into one line: "Are you still getting by?"
The collection came out on March 15, 2017, and the finish arrived with it, in the case of the same name. Valve's finish catalog lists it as number 640.
What to check before buying
Several things shape the choice of a particular listing:
- float: on a dark base, rubbed edges show up as pale streaks;
- the pink patch at the front edge of the receiver, which sits on a raised part and wears off first;
- the name tag and stickers on the body;
- whether the copy is a Souvenir one or a regular one, since the two are easy to mix up.
The pattern is fixed on this skin, and price does not depend on it.
What the AWP | Fever Dream costs in Field-Tested
The asking price for this wear is shown above the description. Between wears the finish's price gap is almost erased:
- Factory New costs about a third more;
- Minimal Wear costs practically the same;
- Well-Worn is nearly level;
- Battle-Scarred is about a twentieth cheaper.
The four lower wears sit within a few percent of each other. The explanation is in the artwork: a dark base with dense graphics keeps wear from coming to the front. Only the step up to the clean wear shows, and even that is modest for a Classified rank.
Among Classified AWP skins, the Fever Dream sits in the middle: about as many cost less as cost more. The nearest below are AWP | Elite Build and AWP | The End, and the nearest above is AWP | Corticera. The cheapest in the rank are AWP | Duality and AWP | Mortis, the priciest AWP | Silk Tiger and AWP | BOOM.
Getting the AWP | Fever Dream
The direct route is the Spectrum Case. For a trade-up into this AWP, the contract takes ten skins one rank lower from the same set.
StatTrak and Souvenir
A StatTrak version of the AWP | Fever Dream exists. Souvenir copies of the finish turn up too, although no packages were ever issued for it, since those were made only for tournament map collections. Such copies are put together through the Souvenir-O-Matic, which applies gold tournament stickers and a player autograph to an ordinary skin from your inventory.
Stickers and craft on the AWP | Fever Dream
The body already carries artwork, so a sticker lands in the thick of the graphics rather than on a clean background. Pink and turquoise stickers merge with the paint and black ones sink into the base, while light and holographic ones work. The rear of the stock is the freest spot; covering the side of the receiver with its faces is not customary.
Who this wear suits
Buying this particular wear is justified when:
- you want a bright Classified AWP for CS2 without paying a third extra for Factory New;
- it matters that the drawings stay whole, since wear works along the edges and not across the graphics;
- you do not want to pay for a cleaner wear, because the look is nearly the same.
A Field-Tested copy has to come from the band 0.15 to 0.38, and the look differs at the two ends of that stretch. Near the upper limit the receiver edges and the scope mount turn lighter.
