What the AWP | Man-o'-war looks like in Field-Tested

Valve describes the finish as paint over a blue metallic base, with gold swirls and accents applied by hand. On this AWP the paint gathers on the receiver and the front of the stock, while the barrel, the scope housing and the rear of the stock stay dark.

The finish tops out at 0.20, so Field-Tested here ends at 0.20 rather than at 0.38 as on the standard wear scale. Each of the two wears that exist takes exactly half of the short scale from 0.10 to 0.20, and AWP | Man-o'-war has no Well-Worn or Battle-Scarred.

What to check before buying

Before paying for an AWP | Man-o'-war, check these:

• the float: the stretch from 0.15 to 0.20 is too short for the number to tell a good copy from a poor one;


• the gold swirls on the edges of the receiver, which show wear more easily than a number does;


• any name tag or stickers, since those stay on the lot.

The spread on this AWP is so small that picking by float is pointless. Compare listings by their stickers and by how the edges look instead.

AWP | Man-o'-war has a StatTrak version. No Souvenir packages were made for this finish. You can still build a souvenir copy yourself through the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin.

Blue metallic and gold set a two-color palette. Stickers in the same tones carry the paint on, while contrasting red or green ones will fight it.

The paint sits on the receiver and the front of the stock and every other part is black, so light stickers read best on the black surfaces.

Who this wear suits

An AWP | Man-o'-war in this wear is worth buying if:

• you want a finish from the Chroma Case with gold swirls, and a float up to 0.20 suits you;


• it matters that the finish has nothing worse than this wear, since the 0.20 ceiling rules out heavier wear;


• the AWP goes into CS2 matches, where nobody inspects it up close.

If you want a cleaner look, the finish has exactly one alternative: Minimal Wear, with a float of 0.10 to 0.15.
