Here is the AWP | Medusa in Battle-Scarred (BS), the most worn version a buyer can pick: a dark rifle with a gorgon's face across the stock. The float band of this wear is 0.45 to 1.00. Covert rank, and the AWP belongs to The Gods and Monsters Collection. The AWP | Medusa for CS2 exists in all five wears.
What the AWP | Medusa looks like in Battle-Scarred
Underneath is a navy so dark that it reads as black. The gorgon's face and snakes are a pearlescent green with turquoise, and the artwork covers the stock and the side of the receiver. The face lies on the stock, with thin loops of snakes winding forward from it. The grip is dark blue and glossy, while the front of the rifle carries no paint: the barrel and scope are dark gray.
Bare metal remains on the bolt, the trigger guard, the magazine well and the cheek rest. In Battle-Scarred the pearl is lost along the edges: the corners of the stock, the rib of the receiver and the rim of the cheek rest. There the green turns into a matte gray-blue. The face, lying on a flat plane, stays whole longer than the other details. Wear is fixed at drop, and the rifle does not change afterward.
Where the AWP | Medusa came from
Valve made the artwork itself, and no Steam Workshop submission stands behind this finish. The AWP | Medusa entered the game on May 26, 2015. Its Valve catalog number is 446. In the announcement of Operation Bloodhound, The Gods and Monsters Collection is named among the six that supplied rewards to pass holders.
What to check before buying
A listing of the AWP | Medusa is chosen on these points:
- float: the 0.45 to 1.00 band covers 55% of the skin's scale, and its two ends look different;
- the state of the pearl on the receiver rib and the stock corners;
- whether the AWP | Medusa carries stickers and an applied name.
Search by the number rather than the wear label, because a band of 0.45 to 1.00 is wide.
What the AWP | Medusa costs in Battle-Scarred
The other wears, compared with Battle-Scarred:
- Factory New costs 3.19 times as much;
- Minimal Wear costs 1.82 times as much;
- Field-Tested costs 1.22 times as much;
- Well-Worn costs 1.07 times as much.
The big step lies between Minimal Wear and Factory New, and the bottom three are close. Among Covert AWPs this skin is fourth by price out of eighteen. Only AWP | Gungnir, AWP | Dragon Lore and AWP | The Prince cost more, the last by just a tenth. Below it there is a sharp drop: AWP | Desert Hydra is almost half the price, and AWP | Oni Taiji several times less.
Getting the AWP | Medusa
None of the CS2 cases holds the AWP | Medusa.
A trade-up for the AWP | Medusa takes ten skins of the rank below from the same collection. There is one skin at that rank, M4A4 | Poseidon, so the outcome of the trade is known in advance.
StatTrak and Souvenir
There is no StatTrak version of the AWP | Medusa. No Souvenir packages ever existed for this finish, but you can build a souvenir copy yourself: the Souvenir-O-Matic adds gold tournament stickers and a player autograph to a normal skin.
Stickers and craft on the AWP | Medusa
The front of the rifle is unpainted, so a sticker there does not compete with the artwork. Over the painted area, the dark ground sets off light, gold and red stickers, while blue-green ones merge into the pearl. It is best to leave the face on the stock uncovered, since the whole look begins with it.
Who this wear suits
Buy the AWP | Medusa in Battle-Scarred if at least one of these fits:
- you want an AWP with the gorgon artwork at the price of the lowest wear;
- scuffed edges do not bother you, and paying 1.07 to 1.22 times as much for the neighboring wears is not worth it;
- the rifle is for CS2, where wear has no effect on shooting.
