The AWP | Oni Taiji in Factory New (FN) is the top band of the scale, where the artwork looks the way its author intended. Its float in this wear spans 0.00 to 0.07. Covert rank. The rifle belongs to the Operation Hydra Collection and sits in the Operation Hydra Case.
What the AWP | Oni Taiji looks like in Factory New
This finish is artwork rather than a pattern. Dark purple covers the barrel and the scope tube, while the receiver and the stock carry painting in orange, red and yellow tones. Valve describes the finish as a hand-painted work with vivid images of samurai and oni demons, and ends the description with the call "Face your demons".
The artwork covers the receiver and the stock completely, while the barrel stays one color. In Factory New the paint lies evenly, the colors have not dulled, and you can examine the artwork down to the smallest detail. The state of the paint is set at the drop and stays the same afterward. In this wear the AWP | Oni Taiji is a tight 0.00 to 0.07 band, where it is hard to catch a difference between listings.
What to check before buying
What matters when choosing a listing of the AWP | Oni Taiji:
- float: the 0.00 to 0.07 band is 14% of the finish's own scale, and the ceiling of that scale is 0.50;
- the edges of the artwork on the receiver and on the cheek piece of the stock: wear shows there first;
- the stickers and name tag already on that copy of the AWP | Oni Taiji.
The artwork is applied identically to every copy of the AWP | Oni Taiji, so there is no choosing a copy by pattern. What remains is the float and what is already applied.
What the AWP | Oni Taiji costs in Factory New
Set against Factory New, the lower wears come out like this:
- Minimal Wear is cheaper by a factor of one and a half or more;
- Well-Worn is cheaper by nearly a factor of two;
- Field-Tested is cheaper by a factor of a little over two.
Well-Worn costs more than Field-Tested even though its float is higher: its band is 0.38 to 0.45, while Field-Tested runs from 0.15 to 0.38.
Among Covert AWP rifles by price in this wear, the finish lands in the upper half. It costs almost the same as AWP | Lightning Strike, more than AWP | Sovereign Flame and less than AWP | Fade.
Getting the AWP | Oni Taiji
The finish drops from the Operation Hydra Case. The AWP | Oni Taiji also comes from a trade-up: ten skins of the rank below from one collection go into the contract. The chance in a trade-up is one in two.
StatTrak and Souvenir
Stickers and craft on the AWP | Oni Taiji
A StatTrak version of the AWP | Oni Taiji exists. No Souvenir packages were ever issued for this finish. You can build a souvenir copy yourself, though: the Souvenir-O-Matic applies gold tournament stickers and a player autograph to an ordinary skin.
The artwork is busy and warm, so stickers without a complex design of their own suit it: simple silhouettes and solid colors do not compete with the demons and samurai. The purple barrel leaves free space for cool accents.
A sticker on the receiver goes over the artwork and hides part of it, so small ones are the better choice.
Who this wear suits
Buying the AWP | Oni Taiji in Factory New is right if at least one of these fits:
- you want the artwork with samurai and demons to read without any wear;
- you need a copy with a float near 0.00 for a build with stickers;
- the AWP goes into CS2 matches, and it matters that the finish stands out from other skins.
If price matters more, Minimal Wear sits further down the scale, at a price one and a half times lower or more with the same artwork.
