Description

AWP | Queen's Gambit in Battle-Scarred (BS) is the bottom edge of the finish's scale and the longest of its five bands. The float for this wear runs from 0.45 to 1.00. It is the Covert rank of The Dead Hand Collection, and the finish arrives from the Sealed Dead Hand Terminal.

What the AWP | Queen's Gambit looks like in Battle-Scarred

The composition is strict: gold ornament on the receiver and the stock, a dark blue barrel with a fine light pattern, and a gold muzzle brake and scope housing. Valve calls the finish a painting in royal colors, with a queen drawn by hand in front of the stock.

In Battle-Scarred the wear is not hidden. The gold is heavily rubbed, the ornament reads in fragments, and the dark barrel shows marks of use. The band stretches from 0.45 to 1.00, so two listings of the same wear can look quite different. Near the lower bound the gilding still holds across large areas, and near the upper it survives only in patches.

Where the AWP | Queen's Gambit came from

The finish entered the game on March 11, 2026, together with The Dead Hand Collection. Valve presented that collection as a set of seventeen community finishes and twenty-two new gloves, and AWP | Queen's Gambit stands among those finishes at the Covert rank.

What to check before buying

Choosing a particular AWP | Queen's Gambit rests on these points:

  • the float: on a stretch 0.55 long, the number says more about the state of the gold than any label;

  • how much gilding is left on the side of the receiver and on the cheek of the stock;

  • the stickers and name tag already applied to that copy.

There is no point in searching by pattern index, because the artwork never changes. Listings differ in wear and in what is already stuck on them.

What the AWP | Queen's Gambit costs in Battle-Scarred

The other wears relative to this one:

  • Factory New asks for more than five times the price;

  • Minimal Wear goes for two and a half times the price;

  • Field-Tested costs almost one and a half times as much;

  • Well-Worn costs about a third more.

This is the cheapest of the finish's five wears, even though its band is the longest: 55% of the scale, more than half of the whole float range.

Among Covert AWPs in this wear, the finish sits in the lower half of the row. AWP | Containment Breach and AWP | Printstream cost a little more, AWP | Neo-Noir is almost level, and AWP | Wildfire and AWP | LongDog are cheaper.

Getting the AWP | Queen's Gambit

AWP | Queen's Gambit is found in the Sealed Dead Hand Terminal. A trade-up can also produce it: ten skins of the rank below from the collection go in.

StatTrak and Souvenir

Stickers and craft on the AWP | Queen's Gambit

AWP | Queen's Gambit exists in a StatTrak version. There were no Souvenir packages for it, but a souvenir copy can be obtained through the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin.

The surface in Battle-Scarred is uneven: the gold is rubbed away in patches, and a sticker with a solid outline reads on it better than thin graphics do. Gold and blue tones continue the palette of the finish, while white and silver ones hold up on the dark barrel.

For a craft the point is simple. On a heavily worn copy the stickers set the tone for the whole weapon, because the finish's own artwork is already partly rubbed out.

Who this wear suits

Battle-Scarred is a reasonable pick for an AWP | Queen's Gambit when:

  • you want a gold finish from The Dead Hand Collection at the lowest price of all five wears;

  • wear does not bother you, and the artwork matters more than the condition of the paint;

  • the AWP goes into CS2 matches, and the price of the copy matters more than how it looks up close.

If the gold has to shine, take Factory New or Minimal Wear, where the gilding is preserved.
