Description

The AWP | Safari Mesh in Field-Tested (FT) is a sand-and-olive AWP with a fine mesh pattern, a skin from The Lake Collection. Its rank is Industrial Grade, and no regular case holds it. The AWP | Safari Mesh can be bought for CS2 in any wear, from Factory New to Battle-Scarred.

What the AWP | Safari Mesh looks like in Field-Tested

The receiver, handguard and stock are covered in light khaki paint with a thin honeycomb pattern. The barrel stays dark metal, as do the bipod legs, and the scope body keeps to the same sandy tones. There are no bright spots on the skin.

According to Valve's description, the rifle was painted from a spray can through fence mesh and cardboard stencils. This wear is assigned a float of 0.15 to 0.38. That is 31% of the skin's scale, which runs from 0.06 to 0.80, and wear is fixed at the drop.

Where the AWP | Safari Mesh came from

The Workshop holds no submission for this finish: it was drawn inside Valve. The AWP | Safari Mesh came out on November 27, 2013, and belongs to The Lake Collection. In Valve's catalog the finish stands at number 72, among the very first lines of the list.

What to check before buying

Choosing a particular AWP | Safari Mesh comes down to these points:

  • float: toward 0.38 the light paint grays at the edges of the receiver and stock;

  • the stickers and name tag already on this copy;

  • version: souvenir copies are sold as a separate product.

Here the choice has to be made within 0.15 to 0.38: the difference between the top and bottom of the band is noticeable.

What the AWP | Safari Mesh costs in Field-Tested

The wears relate to this one as follows:

  • Factory New costs about forty times as much;

  • Minimal Wear costs almost double;

  • Well-Worn costs about a third more;

  • Battle-Scarred costs one and a half times as much, and a little more.

The sharp jump at Factory New comes from the float limit: the skin's minimum is 0.06, so Factory New occupies a band of only 0.06 to 0.07. Among Industrial Grade AWPs there is no neighbor in price: Sun in Leo costs a hundred times as much and then some.

Getting the AWP | Safari Mesh

No case holds this finish. Souvenir copies dropped from the DreamHack 2013 and EMS One 2014 souvenir packages.

The alternative to buying is a trade-up: ten skins of the rank below from the same collection return the AWP | Safari Mesh. There are five Industrial Grade skins in the collection, so the odds are one in five.

StatTrak and Souvenir

There is no StatTrak version of the AWP | Safari Mesh, but a souvenir release does exist.

Stickers and craft on the AWP | Safari Mesh

A light sandy base with a fine pattern makes an even ground. Dark and bright stickers read on it, while sandy and yellow ones get lost in the paint.

Who this wear suits

Field-Tested earns its place if one of these describes you:

  • you want a calm sandy AWP for CS2 without bright graphics;

  • you do not need to pay extra for Factory New, which costs dozens of times more;

  • it matters that the price is no higher than Well-Worn and Battle-Scarred.
