Description

Factory New (FN) on the Desert Eagle | Cobalt Disruption is the top of a short scale. This finish's float never rises above 0.20, so it comes in only three wears. Factory New takes the band from 0.00 to 0.07. It is Classified rank, and the Desert Eagle comes from the eSports 2013 Winter Case.

What the Desert Eagle | Cobalt Disruption looks like in Factory New

The pistol is a blue digital camouflage. Two shades of blue do the work, dark and light, plus nearly black patches. The camouflage covers the slide, frame, grip panels and magazine without gaps, and there are no standout shapes in it. The trigger and the screws are left as bare light metal, and the factory markings on the slide are covered by the pattern.

In Factory New the pixels read one by one, right up to the slide edge, and nearer the muzzle they are smaller. Lower on the scale the slide edge, the trigger guard bump and the grip corners lighten: the pixels drop out there and gray metal shows through. On a fine mosaic such bald spots show at once.

Where the Desert Eagle | Cobalt Disruption came from

The finish has no Workshop submission: Valve drew it itself. The eSports 2013 Winter Collection was added to the game on December 18, 2013. In the finish catalog it stands at number 231.

Pattern variance on the Desert Eagle | Cobalt Disruption

This is multicolor anodizing, and it lays down differently on every copy: the arrangement of colors depends on the pattern index. Pattern variance is confirmed for this finish, so two copies with the same float differ in where the light and dark pixels gather. The preview of the particular copy is what to look at.

What to check before buying

A listing for the Desert Eagle | Cobalt Disruption is chosen by these points:

  • the float within 0.00–0.07: on a fine mosaic a light patch is noticeable at once;

  • the pixel layout in the preview, which is different for every copy;

  • stickers and a name tag: on the Desert Eagle | Cobalt Disruption they pass with the listing.

You can buy the Desert Eagle | Cobalt Disruption here almost blind on float: the 0.00–0.07 band is tight. The whole choice in this wear goes by pixel layout, not by float.

What the Desert Eagle | Cobalt Disruption costs in Factory New

The finish has three wears, and the two worn ones cost almost the same:

  • Minimal Wear is cheaper by about a quarter;

  • Field-Tested is cheaper by about a quarter too.

The gap between those two wears is a few percent, with no pattern to it.

Among Classified Desert Eagles, the Cobalt Disruption in Factory New is fourth from the top of nine. The nearest below are the Desert Eagle | Eastern Enigma and the Desert Eagle | Kumicho Dragon, both about a quarter cheaper. Above stand only the Desert Eagle | Hypnotic, the Desert Eagle | Starcade and the Desert Eagle | Fennec Fox, the last one four times as much.

Getting the Desert Eagle | Cobalt Disruption

The main source is the very same eSports 2013 winter case in which the finish came out.

Besides the case there is a trade-up: ten skins of the rank below from this collection give the Desert Eagle | Cobalt Disruption. The set has three Classified skins, so the chance of landing on the Desert Eagle is one in three.

StatTrak and Souvenir

Stickers and craft on the Desert Eagle | Cobalt Disruption

The Desert Eagle | Cobalt Disruption has a StatTrak™ version. Souvenir copies of the finish exist too, but no packages were ever released for it: they were made only for the map collections of tournaments. Such copies are built through the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on an ordinary skin from your inventory.

The pistol has little even ground: the camouflage takes the slide and the frame alike. A mottled mosaic eats the small details of a sticker, so large, high-contrast ones read on it: white, yellow, orange. Blue and black stickers sink into the camouflage. In Factory New the extra money goes precisely for the untouched slide edge.

Who this wear suits

The Desert Eagle | Cobalt Disruption in Factory New makes sense when:

  • you want the top of the scale, which this finish cuts off at 0.20;

  • an intact mosaic matters: lower on the scale the edges eat the pixels;

  • the Deagle goes into a CS2 inventory for inspection, not only for fights.

In CS2 at distance a digital camouflage looks the same at any float. The pixel layout, though, is something you choose in every wear.
