Battle-Scarred (BS) is the most affordable of the five wears of the Desert Eagle | Ocean Drive, a Covert Deagle. The skin is in The Operation Riptide Collection, and its float takes up more than half of the scale here.
What the Desert Eagle | Ocean Drive looks like in Battle-Scarred
Valve sums the finish up as a paint job built from oversaturated colors and assorted shapes. On the gun that means large slanted planes of violet, orange and mint-turquoise, with a fine halftone of dots on top. The front of the slide and the trigger guard are turquoise, and the grip is orange with a violet edging.
In Battle-Scarred the bright paint is rubbed away the most: bare metal shows on the edges of the slide and frame, and the saturated planes dull in places. The color scheme is still recognizable at once, because the skin carries a lot of paint and it is dense.
What to check before buying
These points are worth checking before taking this Deagle:
- float: the closer to 0.45, the better the paint holds on the edges;
- the previous owner's stickers and any rename.
This wear takes the band from 0.45 to 1.00. Both 0.45 and 1.00 fit inside it, and those copies look different. There is no lucky pattern to draw: it is always one and the same.
What the Desert Eagle | Ocean Drive costs in Battle-Scarred
The other wears, relative to this one:
- Factory New: more than triple the price;
- Minimal Wear costs about a seventh more;
- Field-Tested costs the same, the gap being under three percent;
- Well-Worn also costs the same, under three percent apart.
The three lower wears cost almost the same, so Battle-Scarred gives no discount against its neighbors. There is nothing here that costs less than Well-Worn: the difference is lost in the spread of prices.
Of the three Covert Desert Eagles that are priced in this wear, this skin is the most expensive. Code Red is cheaper by about a third, and Printstream by almost half.
Getting the Desert Eagle | Ocean Drive
The skin drops from the Operation Riptide Case. In a trade-up, ten skins one step down from this collection make one Desert Eagle | Ocean Drive. With two Covert skins in the collection, the pistol comes out one time in two.
The Covert rank also feeds a craft: from Operation Riptide it yields the Bowie Knife, Butterfly Knife, Falchion Knife, Huntsman Knife or Shadow Daggers.
StatTrak and Souvenir
This Desert Eagle comes in a StatTrak version. There were no souvenir packages for the finish, since those were made only for the tournament map collections. A souvenir copy can be assembled yourself with the Souvenir-O-Matic, which puts gold tournament stickers and a player autograph on a regular skin from your inventory.
Stickers and craft on the Desert Eagle | Ocean Drive
The skin is motley, and stickers compete with the artwork on it. Those with a heavy dark or white outline read best, because they do not dissolve into the orange and violet. Metal shows under the rubbed edges either way, so keep stickers away from the border.
Who this wear suits
Battle-Scarred is worth buying on the Desert Eagle | Ocean Drive for three reasons:
- it is the cheapest way into the Covert rank of the Deagle for CS2;
- the bright paint stands apart from any other Deagle even when scuffed;
- a listing with a float nearer to 0.45 has fewer scuffs than one at the upper boundary.
If you want clean paint, look at Factory New: it costs more than three times as much.
